North Cadbury Broadband

ADSL BROADBAND ARRIVED ON 7th July 2004 and may now be ordered from any ISP.

If you order from:
Eclipse then please use the referrer code 'CAMELOT'.

Modem for sale: If you want a modem for a single computer then please contact me. I have a spare USB modem (can be used with any ISP). £20.

North Cadbury Broadband - includes South Cadbury, Blackford, Compton Pauncefoot, Sparkford, Camelot & area 01963 44**** in South Somerset.

As at 6th Feb 2004 we reached the trigger of 250 registrations set by BT ... with 255 (102%) so we became one of the first rural areas to get broadband!

BT then set a 'Ready For Service' (RFS) date for 7th July 2004.

I have posted on this site some information & links to useful sites to help you decide if broadband is right for you, which ISP to use etc. Send me any info you would like posted!

I strongly recommend that you read all the FAQ pages as there is a variety of information to help you – whatever your level of knowledge. The information is not in any particular order … so read it all! The Glossary has definitions & explanations of some of the terminology.

North Cadbury Post Office is stocking the ADSL splitters/filters for £3 each. You will need one in each telephone socket to filter out the broadband 'noise' from the telephone. Retailers are charging anything up to £12.99! The filters must be installed in all sockets BEFORE connecting your modem/router - or it probably will not work.

There are approx 834 residential and 80 business addresses on the exchange.
The STD code is: 01963 44XXXX
n.b. part of Sparkford is 01935
BT set a trigger level for our exchange of 250 registrations. At that point they automatically upgraded the exchange. The trigger level was set in line with all exchanges across the country at between 20 and 30% of all possible addresses/numbers.

North Cadbury exchange includes:
o BLACKFORD & COMPTON PAUNCEFOOT
o NORTH CADBURY, includes Yarlington, Woolston, Galhampton, Brookhampton
o SOUTH BARROW
o SOUTH CADBURY
o SPARKFORD, Little Weston

From 6th September 2004 most people will be able to get a service up to 1mb/s as the old limits have been changed. Those out of range before will probably be able to receive a 512kb service.

WE NEED A POINT OF CONTACT FOR EACH VILLAGE, if you can help please email me at: northcadburybroadband@hotmail.com .
