The Home of Plymouth Karate-do Wadokai

Plymouth Wadoryu Karate & Wadokai Southwest was founded in 2001 and is part of British Wadokai Karate-do Federation (British Wadokai).

The style of Karate being practised is known as Wado-ryu (Way of Peace School), and is one of the most popular, and fastest, styles of traditional Karate practised today.

The Kyokai Karate Club and British Wadokai Karate-Do Federation is registered & affiliated with the English Karate Federation (EKF), which is a member of the World Karate Federation.

Our Black-Belt Instructors are all Insured, Registered, CRB (Enhanced) Checked, 1st Aid Trained, and recognised by the English Karate Federation (EKF).

British Wadokai organise many Courses throughout the year, including weapons and specialist training sessions. There are regular Kyu (student) grade assessments and Yudan (black-belt) grade assessments each year.

Upon acceptance to the Club, the student is issued with his Karate Licence, which must be applied for as soon as possible. The licence includes the student’s Karate 'Passport', Record-book, Membership, Insurance (£10,000,000.00 liability cover), and training history record throughout his Karate career.

Training sessions are for one and a half hours and fees are from £4.00 per student (junior age limit is a minimum of 10 years).

Beginners Karate-gi (suit) starts at £14.95 each.
