The History for Rhode Lane Wanderers!
Rhode Lane Wanderers was first formed in the mid 1999, initially at the instigation of the Community Education service, which was based at Blake Comprehensive School (formally known as The Robert Blake Science College).
The initial aims of the club were: - To provide organised football training in a safe and caring environment for the children of the Hamp Estate and surrounding areas, regardless of race, religion, gender and ability. To involve parenets and residents of the estate in the organisation and the running of the Club. To join a local football league to provide competitive games for children that were able and happy to play.
To provide competitve football, Rhode Lane Wanderers joined the Somerset Junior Football League, which had been established a few years earlier to provide mini soccor for children aged 7 to 12 on a "friendly" basis, as the founder clubs had found that many of the local leagues had become too competitive. |
