Who are we?
We are a medium sized club of enthusiastic members who share a common interest in photography. We meet weekly on a Thursday evening, and have a varied selection of activities throughout our season.
All tastes and abilities are catered for, and we currently have beginners-experts, young-OAPs, men and women members.
Several members joined our Club knowing little about photography, and have used the sharing experience of Club evenings to enhance their skills and knowledge. They now are leaders in their chosen field, with Club and regional recognition for their photographs.
Below is an selection of typical Club activities, for full details see our programme.
Monthly Competitions when members work is commented on and judged by an external assessor.
Most months have a fixed or open subject competition in both prints and slides. It's a good opportunity to review your work against others, are 'learn' possibilities for improvements. The top five places in each category are announced, and all entries gain points towards an end of year trophy.
Photographic Lectures when respected photographers from around the region visit the Club to both show and discuss their work or particular interest.
Recorded Lectures/Competitions when collections of prints or slides are shown together with tape commentary. This gives an idea of what photographic fashions and standards are being achieved around the U.K.
Practical/Critique Evenings these are often internal hands on type evenings when members 'learn' from each other by constructive comments or practical 'how to do it' sessions.
Critique evenings are when members share views on each others pictures.
Summer outings when the club makes use of the light evenings by collectively visiting places of local interest, and the annual 'coach trip' to somewhere with a photographic interest .
