An Honourable Half
 | All the Captains were warmly welcomed by Mendip Spring Golf Club who hosted this meeting between Somerset Captains and Cornwall Captains on Tuesday 29th April.
Regretfully the visitors were not able to see the course in all its glory because the weather took on a completely different attitude and decided to throw torrential rain at us from all directions from the start of the match until the last players left the course. This, however, did not spoil the enjoyment and camaraderie that is prevalent when these two Counties meet for these friendly encounters.
Everyone found the course in superb nick and were full of praise for the Green Staff who have done an excellent job in getting it to the high standard it is.
The light lunch and the Dinner in the evening was very well presented too and compliments were also in abundance for quality and the service we received so "Thank You Mendip Spring Golf Club" for looking after us so well.
Although only half of the games went to the 18th, because of the conditions, those who did complete their rounds were certainly well rewarded by playing some very good finishing holes. Only Gerald went beyond the 18 holes.
The match was halved at 4 games all with both sides winning two games and the other four games being halved. A perfectly good and acceptable result.

Arriving On The 1st Tee.
 | | AA Route Map & Sat/Nav. -v- Course Planner. Sat/Nav is not all it is cracked up to be. Just ask a noteable member of the Cornwall Captains because when all others were wending their way home, he decided to take his car and trailer up onto the 1st Tee and practice his reversing techniques. Having arrived on the tee at 7.46 pm he then shunted back and forth for ten minutes, 27 maneuvers in all, hitting the bench several times, missing a buggy and a golfer by inches and finally receiving a lesson from the Club Professional, Robert Moss, who arrived on the scene, having watched it all on CCTV. Robert then directed him towards the exit and wished him a safe and trouble free journey home. How do I know all this, well, I was invited to the Club this morning to view the 10 minute incident caught on video camera. It really is entertaining so take a look at some of the photos taken off the CCTV recording and my apologies for the low quality but they should put a smile on your face. I would get that Sat-Nav checked out if I were you, and, by the way, I managed to replace your divots this morning and apologised to the management when they stopped laughing. Luckily, the Secretary has some Cornish blood in his veins and was very forgiving. |

Now on the 1st Tee
 | | I missed you didn't I. |
|
What Bench????
 | | What a silly place to put a 4 seater bench. |
|
Take The Next exit on The Right.
 | | Getting the hang of this now and seven more turns should do it. |
|
Who Put That Buggy There?????
 | | Just when I had cracked it some bloke in a buggy turns up and gives me a lesson. |
|
Your Destination Is Ahead........... 163 miles Ahead of you
Please drive carefully, good luck and thank you for entertaining us all so grandly. |
Bob Brownhill, Somerset, & Derek Watts, Cornwall
