Seven of The Best
 | It was the South Wales Coast Captains turn to arrange this fixture and what a treat it was to play them at Creigiau Golf Club who were the hosts on this occasion. No surprises as far as the excellence of the venue, the warmth of the welcome, the quality of the food or the pleasure that was enjoyed by all who played in this match.
The course was in excellent condition and it was a pleasure to play on it.
Many of the Somerset Captains had played in previous meetings between the two sides so many old acquaintances were renewed and several new ones struck up. This has always been the case and long may that continue.
Trefor Seaton was on hand to welcome us on arrival and to point us in the right directions so thank you Trefor for your kindness.

The Captains Party
 | | The match got under way with the South Wales Coast Captain, Tony Brown, playing with the home Captain, Harold Newlands, against John Chillington, Somerset Captain, and Trevor Jenkins but the visitors were never in it, the result was never in doubt and the home duo were comfortable winners. |
|
Match 2
 | | Ron Jamieson and Eric Loxton overcame the challenge of Terry Lord, President of S.W. Coast Captains, and partner John Eede, to record the only success for the Somerset Captains. |
|
Match 3
 | | Alan Shore and Colin Davies were on the wrong end of things as the two S.W. Coast Captains pairing of Bill Malcolm and George Counsell registered a win. |
|
Match 4
 | | George Matthews and Bill Hawker were also outplayed by Mike Blackman and John Llewellyn who put the South Wales Coast Captains 3 - 1 up in the match. |
|
Match 5
 | | The run of South Wales Coast victories continued with Mike Nash and Alan Hurford losing out to Phil Edwards and Phil Lee. |
|
Match 6
 | | Again the bad run of results saw John Woodward and John Weeks of Somerset Captains getting a lesson from Mervyn Landeg and Roy Hill. |
|
Match 7
 | | Peter Williams and Stephen Butterfield faired no better for Somerset Captains as they went down to Rodney Kidd and Jeff Hanney. |
|
Match 8
 | | Somerset Captains were one player short so Secretary, Brian Reeves, had to borrow a player from the S W Coast Captains, Maurice Bingham, to make up the four but it made no difference as Dilwyn Bull and Johnathon Jones chalked up yet another win for the home side to give a final result of a 7 – 1 win for South Wales Coast Captains. |
|
Trophy Presentation
 | Congratulations to all our friends on that side of the water. This was the 13th meeting between the two sides and the overall results are now a little closer with 7 win to Somerset, 5 wins to South Wales Coast and 1 match halved.
John Chillington, Somerset, presenting Tony Brown, South Wales Coast, with the trophy. |
