Qualification and Benefits

All Captains, past and present of the Somerset Golf Union and of all Golf Clubs affiliated thereto are ifso facto entitled to membership for life on payment of five pounds to the Hon. Secretary or Treasurer. New Golf Clubs to the Society are to be asked to confirm that they have the facilities to host matches and meetings of the Society and are prepared to offer the courtesy of their course at those matches and meetings, before their Captains are admitted to the Society. For a modest fee of £12, which includes Life Membership and Tie, all qualifying Golf Club past or present Captains can enjoy possibly the finest camaraderie among golfers at any match or meeting of the Society. There is never a dull moment when we meet. Since those forward thinking Captains met back in 1962 we have seen many changes and considerable growth in our Society. A £1.85p increase in Life Membership subscription since 1962 owes much to the prudent managemet and handling of funds over the past 40 years. Our membership is currently 540 with another 20 plus new members expected within the next few months. All will be warmly welcomed. Our strength lies in the fact that we are a non-profit making Society with a very active and supportive membership and it is intended to maintain this enthusiam and status.
