Past Captain of Somerset Captains
 | Following the meeting of the Executive Committee at Enmore ParkGolf Club on Thursday 16th August a further 12 Past Captain of Captains joined the Comittee for lunch and one more at Dinner. This was the seventh year that the "Captains" had met and after lunch 14 of them competed for the President's Cup that was kindly donated by Harry Bowles MBE during his term in office as President.
Although it never poured with rain the weather did threaten to do so at times, however, nothing much came of it and a reasonable day was had by all.
Bill Jennings was the official starter and also assisted with cards at the end of the round. Without going into too much detail regarding individual scores it will suffice to say that George Davis of Wells Golf Club, playing off somebody elses handicap, managed to amass 34 points and therefore won the Presidents Cup on the back nine from Colin Davies with Gordon Britton one point behind in third place.
The evening was rounded off with an excellent meal provided by Martin Berry and his willing helpers and the Staff at Enmore Park Golf Club looked after us extremely well.
There were few photographs captured as each of the three photographers present though the other two were taking them. Fortunately we managed to find one of the winner receiving the Presidents Trophy from Vice-President, Trevor Jenkins who was standing in for Charlie Carr who was feeling unwell and had to leave a little early. |
