What A Great Golfing Complex
 | There cannot be any better pay and play complexes around than Pine Ridge Golf Club in Surrey. It has just about all you would wish to test your golfing skills and when you have concluded your round there is a wonderful choice of food and drink available to satisfy most tastes and all very reasonably priced. If you have not yet visited Pine Ridge Golf Course then treat yourself, you deserve it.
Somerset Golf Captains returned again on Tuesday 12th June and were made most welcome by the staff and after a full English breakfast we set about trying to accumulate stableford points when five teams of three set off with two best scores to count.
This was always going to be a question of luck as to who’s name came out of the hat with who’s and it was no surprise when the two Brian’s, Reeves and Rideout along with Ian Pamplin, came in with a total of 73 points to win from three teams with 71 points and the unluckiest team, I say that because my name came out of the hat with theirs, finished with 68 points.
There should have been a steward’s enquiry really as one of the team needed a buggy yet he was seen walking the course, another played with my handicap and the third was celebrating his birthday and should not have been sober. Never mind, no bad feelings but they were kept waiting right up until the final minutes to receive their enormous win bonus.
This was presented to them over an excellent lunch and the suggestion that it go to charity was rejected by the very person who was being sponsored. I think we should have had a show of hands really.
It was good to welcome one of our Somerset Captains who, although unable to play, joined us for lunch so well done Mervyn Jeanes and thank you for your support and we hope your back improves soon.
Now for a few photos taken out on the course.

Look Who' Here....
 | | Well now This is Peter Owen who was away having a cup of coffee when the group photo was taken.... well, that was his excuse. |
|
Trio Number Two
 | | Bryan Rosewell, Tony Hoskings and Les Kew getting ready on the first tee. |
|
Trio Number Three
 | | The unluckiest Trio pictured here are Trevor Watts, Trevor Jenkins and George Davis who spent too much time enjoying the beautiful scenery. |
|
What Tree ????
 | | George Davis discovers the tree ahead is not staked but he still managed to avoid it and register his par. |
|
Who Put This Bunker Here ????
 | | George Davis again finds the going not as straightforward as he hoped but nevertheless he splashed it out and sank his putt for par, as you would have expected. Trevor Watts looks on in amazement. |
