Sunday School 1855 - Teachers and Scholars

Some forty or fifty years ago the Sunday School at Trudoxhill was held in the house of the venerable Benjamin Newport: (the same house is now occupied by Mr Jonathan Parfitt) and according to the custom of those times the good man and his wife received a stipend or small salary for teaching the children, the method of unpaid free instruction on the Sabbath had not then become general.
