Annual Party held at the Baptist Church Hall

Club members assembled at the Baptist Church Hall in Burnham on Wednesday 16th February 2005 for the annual party hosted by John Williams and the ladies at the Baptist Church.
Mrs Jones greeted members and said that Bryn, her husband - the Minister, was not well enough to attend.
A number of members were also unwell so numbers were fewer than last year when about sixty attended. We barely mustered half that number but made up in enthusiasm.
John started the proceedings with a game of Hoopla and members sat in a circle and took turns to throw the hoops. As John had a newly acquired wooden frame with rope hoops as well as the plastic one, members were able to throw 'two at a time'. John had suggested that the women use the plastic set and the men the wooden one but as there were only half a dozen women members present the men were able to throw on either set. The winners were Michael Carlisle and Susan Matthews who had a large bag of toffee chocolate eclairs each.
Next was passing the parcel and two parcels were passed round the circle to the time of the music. These were both won by members from the Gables.
It was now time for a sing-song and the walls resounded with the words of 'Clementine' and 'Daisy Daisy' etc.
Finally, having 'sung for their supper', members were rewarded with tables laden with sandwiches, pastries and cakes and sat down to eat and drink with gusto. Numbers being less than had been expected - the 'goodies' not eaten were given to the Club Leader and handed around at the BAY Centre at the Club meeting the following evening.
Stephen Porter gave a vote of thanks for an very enjoyable evening and three cheers were given for the John and the ladies who had prepared all the food and made the drinks.
'Thank you' and 'Get Well' cards were sent to John, the Ladies and Bryn - these were signed by members and helpers at the Club meeting on the 17th February.
