Membership

The Club is affiliated to the Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies. Through this we gain advice and support, insurance, and are authorised to carry out boiler testing on members’ model steam locomotive, traction engine, and other boilers (note that this service is strictly for members only). More experienced members can provide advice and encouragement to novices, and of course just getting together for a chat with like-minded people is always worthwhile. The club has a locomotive which can be steamed and used by any member and is especially useful for those who have not yet finished their first model. Meets at the track are a time for exchanging ideas, boiler tests, or just the fun of driving a locomotive or sitting around sipping tea and watching. Membership is open to all, but we are required also to become members of our parent club, the Westland Liesure Complex. This gives access to a wide range of other sporting and social activities on a similar basis to ours, that is by joining the relevant section, together with access to the two large and comfortable bars, and events in the ballroom and other events at members rates.
