Beaver Scouts

6th Swindon Beaver Scouts are boys and girls aged 6-8 years. Our colony meets at St Saviour's Church Hall in Ashford Road each week during term time only.
We currently have 21 Beaver Scouts.
The leaders plan activities which enable the Beavers to obtain the various activity, challenge and staged badges available to Beaver Scouts across the country.  Most activities are based at the Scout Hall but the Beavers are taken on a variety of outdoor trips throughout the year. The most recent was a night hike through Croft Wood. The Beavers followed a variety of clues and signs, including a wool trail to find their way around the wood.
This term we have worked on health and fitness and healty eating. The Beavers hosted a healthy eating night, and have been offered a variety of healthy activities including a tennis coaching session, and a mini-aerobic session. They have learnt about the importance of keeping a healthy heart and lungs and the role of diet and exercise in this.
Beavers have at least one sleepover each year spending the night away from their parents. The leaders organise games, and eveening campfire type meal, before settling the children for the nught.
Beavers are activley encouraged to take part in Church Parade four times each year. The most important of these is St. George's Day (April 23).
At the end of each term, the Beavers host a family night. In March they hosted a St Patrick's Day Night serving Irish Stew and Champ and the leaders set an Irish Quiz. In July, the Beavers hosted a family Italian Night serving Insalata Tricolore. The Beavers have an annual family Christmas Party.
