Class changes and sponsored belly dance news
I'm please to announce I have now started a new class! You will find us at Chippenham in The Cause Music and Arts Centre. The class is very popular already so hurry to book your place. The venue is a lovely old church in the Causeway. Topics covered have been from Yoga and enhancing belly dance moves, to Fusion, Gothic to cheeky Burlesque next week.
RESULT FROM SPONSORED BELLY DANCE 2002 Earlier this year, I did a sponsored belly dance with the help of the class, in aid of the Luther Appeal. Luther is a boy who has cerebral palsy, he is a close friend of my daughter and is receiving a special therapy to help him walk. The therapy is not available on the NHS so we wanted to do something to help. We raised nearly £450 which would just cover a whole treatment. To all who collected and contributed: THANKYOU!! Sponsored shimmy 2004 I managed to shimmy for 1/2 an hour and raised a small sum which went to Bristol Childrens Hospital |
Haflas
Witney, Oxfordshire On 6th November myself and my daughter had a lovely evening at a very successful event organised by teacher Nikki in Witney. There were plenty of group dances and solos, an impressive sword dance by Nikki, three solos by Jacqui Jamal including a drum solo accompanied by the Lebanese drummer John Sleiman. I performed a Gypsy dance and my daughter joined me in a duet. The hafla was held at Langley Hall which is large and has plenty of room for people to move around and give a special informal atmosphere. So while dancing was going on there were some people looking at the souk, buying drinks or visiting the delicious buffet. This was only the second hafla here and a great success. WADA Hafla Another good evening though a little cramped because of its popularity. A bigger hall will be needed next year! I didn't perform but it was nice to be able to sit and watch without having to rush off to change or feel any nerves. Maria D'Silva was the guest dancer and as I have seen her dance before I was pleased to see her again, she's a lovely dancer. I also attended her workshop earlier in the day which was fast and full of new moves. She also brought her wonderful bazaar and there was a secondhand souk which was very successful. The food during the interval was wonderful and at the end everyone was ready to get up and dance to Pauls disco. |
