In the mood for marching

The troupe was founded in Swindon in September 2004 and performed publicly for the first time in May 2005.  We were founded not by the Nolan sisters who 'were in the mood for dancing.' but the Ellis sisters who were and still are in the mood for marching.
Three of the four sisters are former majorettes so between them have a great deal of experience and knowledge.  We perform drills to our own marching band with some instruments being played by girls as young as 8 and our eldest member being only 12.
Previously to joining Britannia Majorettes many had never experience the pleasure of playing a musical instrument. This goes to show what can be achieved in a short period of time with a lot of hard work and dedication by both girls and teamleaders.
In addition to the band Britannia Majorettes centrepiece is the formations carried out by the girls ranging from 6 to 10 years of age co-ordinating their footwork with pom pom routines.  We meet on friday evenings between 7pm and 9pm.
