Fred Butler and Jane Caird

The marriage of Fred BUTLER and Jane CAIRD took place in Salisbury, in 1880. they had four children all born in and around Salisbury, Frederick, Ada, Elsie and Herbert.

Fred was born in 1851 in Salisbury, the 3rd son and fourth child of John Butler and Mary Ann West.

By 1901 Fred was a small shopkeeper still in Salisbury.


Father John BUTLER was a horse-hair manufacturer in Salisbury for many years.

Fred's sister Julia married William TUCKER born 1840 in Poole, Dorset, who went on to be Mayor of Christchurch.

Jane CAIRD was the daughter of Andrew CAIRD and Selina EVEMY. Andrew was born in NE Scotland and was a carpenter/mason to trade. His wife Selina born Brockenhurst, Hampshire, was the daughter of Samuel EVEMY, a New Forest Agister.
