Tae Kwon-Do South West Championships 2005A team from the Wantage, Didcot, Calne, Newbury and Thatcham TAGB Tae Kwon-Do Schools took part in the recent South West Championships held in Paignton, Devon. This was a special event celebrating 30 years of Tae Kwon-Do in the South West of England. To mark this anniversary clubs in the South West are hoping to raise £30,000 in 2005 for cancer charities across the region.
The team took part in ‘patterns’ and ‘sparring’ and came away with the following medals;
Ali Scott Gold – Blue Belt Sparring
Luke Chapman Gold – Blue Belt Boys Sparring
Chris Babbs Silver – Black Belt Sparring
Stuart Ryan Silver – Blue Belt Sparring
Peter Fisher Silver – Black Belt Sparring
Alan Chapman Bronze – Yellow Belt Sparring
Andy Robinson Bronze – Green Belt Sparring
Karen Goodchild Bronze – Yellow Belt Sparring
Mr Dipper 4th degree black belt and club instructor said “It was a good tournament for us and is shown with the medals the students have gained. There were over 400 competitors taking part, which makes there achievements all the more spectacular. I’m proud of all of them; they worked so hard, not only on the day, but in their preparation in getting there. They really enjoyed themselves, so much so, they’re already asking when the next competition is! ”.
