Older Adults Mental Health

This major research programme in older adults mental health and social care is led by Professor Gordon Wilcox(North Bristol NHS Trust/University of Bristol), and involves a number of AWP researchers including Dr Roger Bullock(Kingshill Research Centre,AWP) ans Dr Rik Cheston(AWP), together with researchers fom the Universities of Bath and West of England.
The programme focuses on:
1. Trials investigating effective treatments fo Alzheimer's diseaes and other dementias.
2. Research to improve knowledge of aging processe and development of age-related \neurodegenerative disorders.
3. Impact of dementia on carers (physical, psychological and social).
4. Research into social care for older adults, particularly people with dementia.
5. The patient experience and improving quality of life for older people and carers.
