Serving the local community

Lions are members of community service clubs, dedicated to the idea that the men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know who needs help and why. More than 43,000 strong, these local clubs are part of the world's largest such organisation, with 1.4 million members serving in more than 180 countries and areas. The association is both non-political and non-sectarian.
A typical Lions club consists of 20-30 members from all walks of life and backgrounds, united in a common aim - to help those less fortunate than themselves.

Membership is open to anyone prepared to dedicate some of their spare time to community service and have fun doing it - just contact us through this site or phone 0845 833 5727 to find out more!

Generally the majority of a Lions club’s activities are concentrated on the needs of their local community.
Your Local Lions...
- Provide entertainment, outings, sporting facilities and other assistance for local needy, aged and disadvantaged persons.
- Provide equipment for schools, hospitals, playgroups, hospices etc.
- Provide hot dinners on Christmas Day for those spending Christmas alone.
- Finance Eye Camps and Water Wells in the Third World.
- Provide direct assistance to the Aged, Blind and the Deaf.
- Help with emergency disaster relief anywhere in the world.
- Sponsor International Youth Camps and Youth Exchange programmes.
- Assist with Diabetes Awareness Events
and...
enjoy themselves.
