Chippenham Police FC
Chippenham Police Football Club have been playing in the Chippenham & District Sunday Football League for many years, boasting a fine pitch and facilities at their Wiltshire Constabulary Headquarters in Devizes. They are now the only surviving Sunday League Police team in the County, the Salisbury and Swindon based teams having folded in recent years. The team is now made up of Police and Civilian staff from around the County, some of whom have been in the team for many, many years, plus some welcome new signings that have bolstered the squad. Previous seasons have been hampered by several Sunday morning shortages due to shiftwork and major incidents but so far this season has seen increased resilience due to a larger squad. Some of the longstanding members will remember the highs and lows of the previous seasons, 'highs' including reaching the Final of the Subsidiary Cup in 1993/94 (losing 5-3 to Trowbridge Town Colts) and winning promotion to Division 1 in 1990/91. There are too many 'lows' to mention! This site is still under development, and further news / pictures will follow shortly.
