The Cause is a multi purpose arts venue located 200 yards from the Market Place, directions how to get to The Cause are on a separate page. ROOMS AVALIABLE FOR HIRE MAIN HALL this is a large room with adjoining kitchen facilities useful for rehearsals, meetings, classes and other informal events. AUDITORIUM this is a converted methodist chapel useful for formal concerts or theatrical productions. SMALL UPSTAIRS ROOMS useful for offices or one to one or very small group tuition. TYPES OF ACTIVITY WHICH THE CAUSE HOSTS exhibitions, music rehearsals, theatre/drama/rehearsals, concerts, dance/theatrical productions, meetings/classes/conferences, talks and other presentations, organ concerts, parties, functions. RANGE OF FACILITIES EXHIBITIONS: there is a reasonable amount of wall space availible for exhibitions, both in the main hall and in the auditorium. These walls have picture rails with eyelets attached. There are also 7 folding tables that can be used to exhibit materials. DANCE: the main hall has old style varnished woodern floorboards. Space is adequate for rehearsals, but limited if audience is present as well. CONCERTS/THEATRE: the main hall can be used for concerts. The auditorium has a raised stage, ground floor and bacony seating. There is a green room adjacent to both the main hall and the auditorium. LIGHTING: the main hall has general lighting and halogen spots on dimmers. The auditorium there is genral lighting, dimmable spot lights with gells, with a portable lighting mixer. SOUND SYSTEM: there is full PA system with four speakers (moveable on stands), microphone amplification, and facilities for recording. PIPE ORGAN: is located in the auditorium with a clear and strong tone. GRAND PIANO: is located in the auditorium a 9ft Bechstein. UPRIGHT PIANO: is located in the main hall. TOILETS AND WASHROOMS: adjacent to the main hall. KITCHEN: is large with washing up facilities adjacent to the main hall. There are tables, table linen, ample tea pots, kettles, glasses and crockery for light refreshments. WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: The Cause is accessable, also with a disabled toilet.
