CHIPPENHAM WHEELERS OPEN CYCLOCROSS EVENT
Chippenham Wheelers hosted Round 9 of the Western League Cyclo Cross on Sunday 25th November. The races took place at Castle Combe with 33 riders from various local clubs taking part.
The course was an off-road route consisting of 1.5 mile laps with various obstacles, ramps and wooded sections.
The first event of the afternoon was the Youth race, which was won by Sean Wheddon of Newport CRT in front of Wheelers riders Torston Middleton, Robert Higgs, Luke Davies, Jake Davies and Peter Kibble.
The Under 16 race winner was Luke Gray of Hargroves Cycles with Jamie Richardson- Paige of Chippenham Wheelers coming second.
In a closely fought battle, last years’ winner Craig Denning of Dream Mechanics won the main race just ahead of Scott Chalmers of Johns Bikes. Both registered a time of 55 minutes and 9 seconds. In third place was Barry Holley of V C Walcot. The Wheelers' riders were A Gough, G Scott and S Archard.
