 | Rangers didn't take a break after the 2001-2 season had finished in may. instead between May-july the club built on what was left of the squad.Another advertisment campaign thoughtout the summer brought in new blood.Defender Dave Bridle and Midfield dynamo Matt Crucifix joined Rangers after training with Prestbury.Brothers Nigel and Niel Harrington from Frome followed,Willmotts carer John Green, and Andy Jones formed the basis of the squad.
Rangers didn't win any friendlies with thier new assembled squad, but once the season began, they settled into the seasons patten of playing good football but losing it in the second half.Glassons outfit had to wait until the end of december for thier first; league win a 4-2 home game against Clutton. Rangers signings continued throught the season, september saw Ian Gilbanks, steve tymms ,Ben burville ,younster mark palmer, and a much needed commanding defender came in the form of Lachlen"Jock" Cameron.Who captained the side in ,Lycetts absence. Also joining the squad, along with jock came Matt loveless and Danny Goodall, there were many more, and Glasson had to sign up 40 players, just to make sure of a basic eleven each week, sometimes he could only manage 9 or 10.An oscars nightclub sponsorship deal looked on the cards, but was scuppered as the club resumed its downward spiral. The whipping boys tag stayed with the side all season, winning two more games and recording thier first draw,a 4-4 against K&s eagles.
"We were like sandcastles, once the tide came in,we would crumble" Glasson 2002
