2003-04

The 2003-04 season;saw a much stronger squad, and it was to be a consistant squad to, with Glasson having to turn players down,of course this didn't last long,as those players not chosen soon faded away. There were several players left from last season,Manager js Glasson, defender,John Green. keeper, stuart Green, left back Rich Chalmers, left back Dave Bridle, midfielder Steve Tymms and; attacking midfielder Andy Jones..Pre-season brought an array of talent, Mark Thomas, who was rejected from Warminster town for being to long in the tooth, proved to be one of the best signings of the year.along with the influentual;Andy Butler, who captained the side and was respected by all.Other signing ike Lee Strong(kit sponsor).John Burns,Stuart Milikin,Ian Gilbanks,Ed Mezzetti.Chris Davis,Rob Jacques,Simon Hill,Mark Davies all made thier mark on the season, some good and some bad.

Rangers pre-season had been intense, and fitness levels were up by 25%,and this showed,in the friendlies, but it was more evident on the first day of the season. The league had been reduced to two leagues,Rangers who had finished bottom of division two, found themselves in division one, rubbing shoulders with quality sides like The Artisans,Woolpack wasps(both from warminster), Peasedown CC, and Timsbury, who got promoted in thier first season in divison two.It was the woolpack wasps who were rangers first home game opponents, and expecting a easy ride, found themsleves two down in ten minutes, with a few warminster town players in thier midst, they did respond, and won 4-3.only just tho.Rangers had finally found a formation that worked and the players to make it work.the performances continued, and rangers won thier next two games to sit in sixth place.Rangers however soon came down back to earth, and for the rest of of the season, they would lose games they should have won, conceding early goals, then dominating second halfs with out overturning thier opponenets.Ian Gilbanks left the club, leaving a gap in defence, but it was not long before ex-semi-pro Mark Dawson stepped in and filled the breeech.Andy jones became a prolific goalscorer, bagging 25 goals in all compertitions,5 in the Gordon lucas division cup, which helped rangers to thier frist ever semi-final.an own goal by richard chalmers 30 seconds before the end of extra time, sent rangers crashing out of the cup as they lost 4-3 on penalties.Devastated.the club focused on the league, doing the double over Bereberry club,Greyhound ath and Kings arms, wins over K&S Eagles and Peasedown was also matched with a surperb 4-4 draw against Prestbury utd,who were also in good form.
Records broken!!!

"we pulled out some brilliant perfromances, and i couldn't ask more out of my players, but we became complacent with out new-found confidence.overall i was delighted as i has set a points total of 21 and we ended up tenth in the league on 24 pts,15 points short of 3rd place,to me thats a result, and something to build on next season" quote from club manager

Rangers league place was thier highest yet,and so was the 26 pts total, they also had Andy jones 25 goals record, which beat ryan Deweys 2001 record of 14 goals. Keeper Stuart Green had more than one clean sheet. And the club reached its first cup semi-final.
