Chippenham 2008
Chippenham & District Voluntary group will host and organise the annual sponsored walk to raise funds for Diabetes UK in North Wiltshire
The Chippenham Walk will be held on Sunday 6 July 2008. Our celebrity starter will be DJ - Gary Vincent of Magic 105.4, London - his weekday morning show can be heard on Sky or Freeview. Gary lives in Wiltshire and has Type 2 diabetes. |
Wiltshire College Lackham
Wiltshire College generously allow us to use their grounds at Lackham, which provide a very safe and attractive route for the mile long walk. It is away from main roads and is flat and even enough for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Dogs are welcome providing they are kept on a lead at all times.
|
Fun Day for All
 | In addition to the sponsored walk, there will be a tombola and our bookstall selling Diabetes cookery books and other items. Our walkers and their families can enjoyed lots of other attractions at Lackham including the Woodland Trail, Miniature Railway, Iron & Clay demonstrations (Blacksmith and Potter), Tractor/trailer rides and the Museum of Agriculture and Rural Life.
There will be free Diabetes UK bags for all registered walkers and a medal for successful completion.
Refreshments are available from the W.I. tea shop, or you could bring a picnic with you to enjoy in the lovely gardens? There is ample free car parking and it costs nothing to enter. We would however like you to raise lots of sponsorship.

The Walk - 2008
 | | Magic FM 105.4 DJ Gary Vincent, himself a person with diabetes and resident of North Wiltshire, started our walkers on a rather wet and windy walk. |
|
Group Shop
 | | Virginia Mundin manned our stall selling Diabetes UK items. Seen here with Treasurer Jennifer Rudd |
|
Tombola
 | | Vicky Welsh ran a very successful tombola stall. Seen here with Ryan Lavill her apprentice barrel turner for the day. Ryan - 8, grandson of the walk organiser is a verteran at these events having completed 5 walks. Think he is now picking up management skills so he can take over. |

Its a dog's life
Rusty the labrador, completed the walk in great fashion together with his family |
