How You Can Help
Doorway relies on volunteers, donations and the Friends of Doorway to ensure that we continue to provide a drop-in centre for homeless adults at The Salvation Army Hall, Chippenham.
You can help by:- Volunteering Donating food, money or clothing Joining the Friends of Doorway |
Volunteering
We need volunteers to:-
Prepare, cook and serve hot meals Help clear up afterwards Serve tea and coffee.
We also need befrienders and support workers for arts, IT, music and creative writing projects.
You will receive training and support and we reimburse expenses, such as travel to the centre and car parking. Free meals are also provided.
For many of our volunteers, most important is the chance to work with friendly, like-minded people who are making a real difference in the lives of some of our local community's most disadvantaged people.

Friends of Doorway
By joining the Friends of Doorway, you join a team of people aiming to reach everyone in North Wiltshire who needs Doorway's help.
Friends of Doorway is a self-supporting team of volunteers in the community who give time, energy or resources to raise the profile of Doorway in North Wiltshire and to generate much needed funds.
|
Donations
We need donations of food and clothing for our guests to take away from the drop-in centre.
We also need donations of money. Doorway needs in the region of £55,000 a year to keep going - charitable trusts and statutory bodies are reluctant to fund running costs year after year.

Volunteers Induction Day
Doorway is holding an induction day for people thinking of volunteering on October 10th 2006 from 9.15am to 4.00pm.
There is no committment at this stage, just the chance to meet others working for Doorway and to find out more about the project.
For those who would be interested in volunteering there will then be 2 training sessions:
Active Listening - October 17th from 9.15am to 4.00pm
Issues Around Homelessness - November 14th from 9.15am to midday.
