August 4th DEVERILLS 6 V 1 FC St GEORGE

FC St George kicked off thier Friendlies against Saturday side the Deverills and were beaten convincely 6-1, The scorline does not justify the Georges perfomance as Glassons bare eleven gave all against a 17 man Deverill side and the soaring heat, With no subs available this was a time to knuckle down. Striker Stuart Green who is trialing as a keeper for the Deverills had to fill in for the missing Makwana who may find it hard get back his number one jersey on Greens Performance today. New Signings Simon clark and Darius Snidzic made thier full debuts , Polishman Snidzic was among one of the better players on the pitch and took this time to impress his manager, Snidzic tho missing the chance to pull one back at the end of the first half, as a open goal beckoned , Winger Glasson who challendged the keeper for the ball won the ball and tapped it into Snidzics path but his tame shot was cleared out of danger. Fc St George had the brighter start and carved out the first chance and looked good for twenty minutes. But the deverills soon shone and grabbed four deserved goals. Fc St Georges Striker Mikey Payne grabbing one goal for his saturday side.
The Second half was more of a open game as the Deverills loked to put out thier reserve side with Mikey Payne swapping shirts with fellow Deverill/Fc St George player Sean Hulton ,and with five minutes gone of the second half Mikey chipped in a goal to give St George a boost. This inspired a better half for ther sunday side who created a few more chances Snidzic Payne coming the closest.. The Deverills are much more of a fast attacking side and like Glassons side they like to attack in numbers . Thier first half goals came from counters and they grabbed another two through some similar play after wasting a hatful to so wayward shooting and finding the opponents defence a bit more solid than they known from past friendlies .Overall the Deverills had more class and finess but they were still not the finished artical .Fc St Geeorge were missing seven players from thier squad and having to reshuffle his team around Player manager Glasson had put out his strongest formation out. and if u put Mikey Payne and Sean Hulton in that squad and against a more evened side you can see better things are to come.

K&S Eagles 6 v 2 Fc St George

A trip out into the wilderness of wincanton was the nearest hot destination "FC" were going to taste. This was The clubs second friendly with another three games to follow in the next seven days.
The players have had it comfortable in training but now The Manager has given the players a stern test in fitness and endurance. which sadly failed in the second half of this Match. The Yews travelled light with new signing Matt Crucifix on uni business, john green ,striker Mikey payne and Sean Holton unavailable and youngsters Douglas and Preece nowhere to be seen. Alex Makwana returned between the posts and understudy Stuart Green partnered New signing Daruis snidez up front. The rest of the pack look familier . The match could not have got off to a worse start when the homeside headed in a two minute corner, Resolute Fc St George ,once settled , forced thier way through the first 45 minutes with some good football finally chipping away and grabbing a equalizer on 40 minutes, Strker Stuart Green chipping in from two yards off Mark Selfs assist . This was minutes after Da Silva's thunderous shot from twenty yards hit the crossbar being the nearest of the eight chances the Yews had created. K & S Eagles too were playing thier second freindly and the young side who won thier league showed why with thier attacking football but they kept coming up against a solid defence who silenced any real threats. The second half the visitors crumbled, the discipline, the heat, the fitness may all have contributed to what really was a complete change from the performance . only after the Eagles had scored four goals did "FC" come back into the game. Rory Kelly doubled the yews score when he jinxed his way through three players before placing a twenty yard shot into the right hand corner to make it 5-2.The eagles finished off with a sixth goal. final score 6-2

August 14th Fc St George 6 Sureset Rangers 4

LOCAL DERBY INCITES GOAL RUSH

Fc St George were back in action two days after suffering a six two defeat at Wincanton side K&S Eagles. Conceding a two minute goal then getting ripped to pieces in the second half was not the outcome the Gaffa was looking for after taking the homeside into the break at 1-1.Last Nights game against fellow division two side Sureset Rangers looked to go the same way when Sureset opened up the goal feast against the run off play. "Fc" line up included debuts for Matt Crucifix and Sean Holton and Mark Davies . from the first minute Fc showed thier intent and carved out a couple of testers for the nervous sureset keeper, but on the tenth minute "Fc" were hit on the counter and Makwana had no chance with the low volley. Glassons side soon bounced back and striker Stu green equalized from a keepers error ,then minutes later ran onto John greens through ball to give the homeside the lead 2-1.The sureset flagman soon was summoning ships with his flag waving as he denied Mikey Payne the benefit of the doubt everytime he charged foward and even Gaffas headed goal was disallowed. Rory Kelly then grabbed a third for "Fc" from the spot. Surset grabbed thier second of the game after Makwana clearance went straight to thier striker who couldnt miss to make it 3-2. After a few changes were made Mikey Payne finaly managed to outwit the flagman and grab number four.

The Back four of Crucifix Kennedy Chamtly and Self looked confident and composed for much of the match and regarding any changes it be hard to change it. the Midfeild, well the Gaffa tried all different options with the array of talent he his squad processes what ever his plans are you cant see where he can go wrong. and upfront Mikey Payne and stuart Green would need to be piss poor for the likes of Mark wallis who bagged the sixth goal a minute from time. and polishman Daruis Snidez whos just adapting to the english game.

The Second half sureset came back into the game and with the Gaffa changing a few things round it altered the shape and the visitors grabbed a third goal from some good build up. 4-3 and they looked to be on top of the game and missed two chances to equalise. on 65 minutes the Gaffa latched onto Miley Paynes cross and tamely tapped the ball under the keeper to make it 5-3. Back came Sureset with yet another goal from a counter attack ten minutes later to make it a climaxing end to the game.5-4 and with nothing seprarting the teams bar the one goal up popped Mark wallis at the near post who heeled in "FC" Sixth and seal the win
final score 6-1

FC ST GEORGE 4 - 0 K&S Eagles

The Eagles had thier wings well and truely clipped as the homeside sought revenge for thier six one deafeat at More lane last week. The Gaffa tried out a new formation and low and behold it seemed to winning 4-0. A sure sign there are better things to come. The Gaffa 12 man squad gelled like a pot of mousse as they stuck to thier shape and tactics which spawned four goals and a lot more chances that as the song says "coulda shoulda woulda" New signing Mark Davies returned and was put straight into the deep end with a achourman role. Fc started the brighter and dominated the first half.Lessons had been learnt from ther Sureset Rangers and it showed with some solid defending that saw Makwana in goal keep a clean sheet, he was rarely tested throughout the game but showed class when he he was brought into action. Mikey Payne grabbed rangers first goal after twelve minutes and Mark wallis put one in from a corner to make it 2-0. Rory kelly grabbed a third on the half hr. The Eagles had a good spell before the break and returned a hungrier side, and as in the first game they showed thier true one pass football that won them thier league. It became end to end with both keepers pulling off fantastic saves, mikey payne having at least four efforts saved by the keeper, but he had no chance with the cklinicaly fourth, Chantley found davies who passed out to the right flank where clark took it about a yard before sliding inside to Kelly who jinxed into the box and put iT FOR Payne for his second of the game.that was the only goal of the second half but enough to give Fc St George a 4-0 win.

As Derby games go this had all the drama, passion and entertainment that would not look out of place on sky sports. Sureset arrived in numbers and didnt disappoint the baying crowd of ten . who had arrived early ready to witnessed two sunday sides mauling it out for 90 minutes. but behold the Majority of them had to wipe the mist out hier eyes as they were served some great football and some great goals. The Gaffa had a squad of 14 for this fixture and only made one change from the team that beat K&s Eagles , Polish midfielder Daruis Snidez in for the absent Rory Kelly. Sureset arrived with just as many and proberly thier best selection yet.The first twenty minutes of the match was very tight with much of the play in the middle sureset opting to play narrow against the homeside who seemed when on the ball to use much more of the flanks and it was interesting to see both styles working. more so for the homside who were at ease at counter attacking and forcing early saves off the sureset keeper. Makwana at the other end was also brought into action but his goal was rarely threathened. Fc's Cenrtral defender Nigel Chantly who had been doubtful for the match shrugged off his foot injury and on 25 minutes headed in Mark davies Corner. 1-0 on the half hr Sean Holton replaced Polishman Snedic and after five minutes putting himslef about muscled his way through to the visitors box before laying off to Stuart Green who was forced out wide but managed to put into the box where Holton managed to toepoke in number two.2-0 Kevin blisset and John green replaced Mark Self and clark as the gaffa shuffled his pack. Surset who deserved a bit more from thier performance finally cracked the homesides defence and brought themselves back into game minutes before the break. 2.1 half time.

The Second half the Gaffa came off for Martin Read and Snedzic came on for Mark wallis. The second half surset pushed up the tempo and nearly equalised but Makwana was came off his line to thwart the incoming danger. Sureset however were leaving themselves short at the back giving Strikers Mikey Payne and Stuart Green space and time to create more chances, Martin Read who had come on second half , was a constant threat supplying the latter two with some perfect crosses . but it was his corner from the left that found Simon clark unmarked to head home FC'S Third on 65 minutes. Sureset chipped away to no avail and St Georges fourth goal came from Read himself who ran down the left flank and volleyed in the goal of the game. 4-1

Fc st george 1-2 ARTISANS

A full squad was Glassons disposal, Da silva the only player unable to parcipate in what was a test of a game for "FC". Starting with the same line-up as the last two games, Glasson had a good look at what may be his strongest side yet. Glassons side held Artisans at bay for a good hour before the division one side took the lead from a corner. Ten minutes later a long ball foward eluded the defence and makwana was left stranded with ni chance of saving thier second. The second half became a end to end affair with both sides wasting chances and "FC" pulled themselves back into the game when Mikey Payne crafted a goal from Mark Selfs long ball assist 1-2 . Fc had the upper hand the last ten minutes but could not find the equaliser. final score 1-2
