Fc St George
 | CLASSY FC ST GEORGE TOO STRONG FOR GRIFFEN
FC ST GEORGE 4 V 2 GRIFFIN FC
Mark Davies, proved with his deadly right foot, that he can help take Fc St George into the Final of the Division two Cup and leagupromotion. Fc St GEORGE remain unbeaten at home and todays win makes it five. ., Goalscorer Davies conjured up his sides fourth goal which capped a greatperformance from the midfield dynamo. It was a Good day for his Deverills Counter-parts too. Sean Holton is on a a scoring run after coming back from suspension, his opener on 22 minutes was his second in two games, and Striker Mikey Payne grabbing a brace to take Fc into the next round. Player-boss Glasson defensive approach to the game seemed odd but paid dividends. at times tho it was ugly but the veteran Welshman purred” when u got top quality players at the top end of the pitch , and through the spine ,any formation is adaptable and the way the game went it became easier to adapt. We usually start off sluggishly then move up a gear and then another and we bossed the game even tho we were hit by to silly goals again . . Griffen had arrived at St Georges with a stronger squad but were never on top of the game throughout the match , there best spell came after their equaliser, a spate of free-kicks in the first half that really never tested the homeside defence. Glassons outfit are developing into one of the sides that everyone should be aware of, there are so many good partnerships on the field that finding a moment in the match to highlight is impossible. Skipper Matt Crucifix was drafted into defence for the absent John Green while Glasson had packed midfield with Sean Holton, Rory Kelly, Mark Davies, Mark Wallis and Da Silva. With Mikey Payne AS A LONE STRIKER . Mikey has what defenders hate and that’s Raw blistering pace and he can be forgiven for his early chances as he was sometimes all alone up front, but you know he will score.. Fc St George opener came courstesy of a Mark davies left sided corner. Wallis had forced a corner from Mark Selfs long ball forward and Davies dispactched corner was forced over the line by Sean Holton -1-0. Groundhog day happened yet again as Griffen responsed well scoring immedialty. Skipper Crucifix slipped as he challenged, Davies was wrong footed and Makwana had no choice but to cut down the angel before seeing the ball slip past him 1-1. Griffen upped their game and the homeside had to soak up a clutch of corners and freekicks before grabbing a second. Unmarked Payne heading home a inviting corner from Rory Kelly. 2-1 . Griffen came out the stocks hungrier second half and Makwana had to be alert to two goal bound efforts from outside the box. Fc St George continued to dominate with Striker Mark Wallis forcing two saves out of the Griffin keeper. Mark Self mazy run from Left back ended with him point blankly shooting at the keeper and Simon clark down the right flank saw his cross glance off the cross bar.. Mikey Payne then increased the homesides lead after intercepting Rory kellys throughball and volleying first time past the keeper 3-1. A minute later Rory KELLY THEN SAW HIS 20 YARD STRIKE GRAZE THE CROSSBAR. There was no quick response by the Griffen but they did produce a goal ten minutes later , a 30 yard howizter created from nothing squeezed its way over MaKwana who had to backtrack after being caught off his line. 3-2. Martin Read came on for Portugese Henrik Da Silva who is beginning to produce the magic his boss had signed him up for last season . the game had been one-sided with defensive partnership off Nigel Chantly and Skipper Matt Crucifix thrawthing the odd occasion did ,amahe to get into the 18 yard area and the rest of the St GEORGES pack assaulted the other end Griffen did threathen. Final the goal that took the game away from Griffen came from some good interplay involving all three Deverills players Holton Payne and Davies who went onto lump the ball into the top right corner. 4-2. Lee kennedy and Danial Harper replaced Sean Holton and Mark wallis to wind down the time. Final score. 4-2. Fc St Georges Simon clark was picked out as man of the match by Referee M Mead who said the right back put in a solid display and rarely made a error.

TRIAL AND ERROR
NORTON NOMADS 3-0 FC ST GEORGE
Three second half goals sent Fc St George spiraling out of the division Two Cup qte finals. The scoreline didnt reflect all of the game but the homeside deserved to win om merit determination and hunger. Fcs Manager travelled to Ston Easton with almost a full sqaud and with a quality bench waiting to come on this shud have been a full effort perfromance. Player Manager Js Glasson started his first game for two months and new signing Chris Ayres made his full debut, The First half was ragged with much of the play in the air the ball pinging back and for with noone really holding onto the ball. Nortons seemed to play the better football but much of thier presssure was soaked up by Fcs defensive set up. Norton Nomads came closest to scoring but both goal bound efforts were blocked on the line and Keeper Stuart Green had to make a do or die save to thwart another danger. Nortons when off at the interval the happiest and that confidence ascended into triumph as they finally punctured the Visitors defence from a corner on 50 minutes. Fc came close to levelling with eforts from Holton Payne and Glasson to get back into the game, and double substitution failed to change things, Nomads doubled thier lead soon after from open play and you could see no way back for Glassons side. But with twenty minutes to go Fc finally came to life and a ten minutes spell created three decent efforts that may habe changed the game . Fc finally conceded a third which killed off the game after being hit on the counter and conceding a needless corner which was then tapped headed in at the far post.3-0. Striker Mark Wallis was thrown into the fray but the game had already been won. final score 3-0 |
