STU-PENDUS GREEN ON FIRE

Stuart Green returns to his familiar striking role and stole the show by scoring a hat-trick on DERBY DAY . A goal either side of the break from Rory kelly and one from sub Mark wallis finished OFF the rout, And it could have been a lot more!!!
Player Manager JS Glasson opted to release Green from Goalkeeping duties and put the striker back upfront with Mikey Payne in a bid to revolve Fc ST georges fortunes . Portugese import Henrik Da Silva also a positivly tested keeper took the gloves in the absence of First choice keeper Alex Makwana. There were a few more forced changes, Mikey Payne declared himself doubtful with a ankle injury and with a wave of hands going up The GAFFA opted for Rory kelly who has not had the best of seasons. Skipper Matt Cruficx moved into centre midfeild alongside Chris Ayre in a untried partnership, Nigel Chantly returned to the heart of defence along with John Green whos solid performance last week kept him in the side. The Gaffa and Martin Read filled both wings and both Lee Kennedy and Mark Self retained thier full back postions. The bench was light with only Mark Wallis and Polishman Daruis Snedzic available.
The Pitch was more a mud field than a playing field with one side playing like stuck in the mud and the nearside sloping down a little overgrown. so any football on the ground had to of a professional standard. Dilton Squad housed five of the players that were loaned out to Glassons side last year and two ex prestbury sports bar players so Glasson knew hiw they played and used this to his advantage. Fc St George lost the toss but were in on goal within ten seconds of Dilton starting from the centre. Crucifixs timely challenge won the ball and put Stuart Green in on goal, inspired by this Fc Won a couple of corners Ayres heaed wide of Martin Reads left handed swinger and Glasson could not connect with Reads near post effort. On seven minutes the visitors did take the lead a long clearance foward by Chantly fell kindly for Green who took the ball wide of the on coming keeper and slotted home. 0-1. Dilton did better with thier second start from the centre and won a corner and responded well by equalising within two minutes, a unmarked dilton players shot just deflected of a foot as Da Silva went down to his left as the ball bobbled right. 1-1. The two sides settled down into a pattern Rovers trying to play thier one too football on thier sticky pitch, while the Saints used the flanks . Much of Fcs play was created through the dominate midfeild of skipper Matt Crucifix and New signing Chris Ayres thier ariel prowess and first time balls collectivly proved fatal for the hosts who were no match. The visitors dominated the match and Glasson went close with a far post header off a corner, Rory Kelly saw his first shot saved by the keeper and Ayres and Green thwarted by a flag happy linesman. The Breakthough did come on 38 minutes when Mark Self clearance found Ayres who picked out Stuart Greens run and the Born again striker picked a spot for his second.1-2. three minutes later it was 1-3, the goal of the game some may say.Right back Lee Kennedy won himself a throw in after surging down the right flank. The resulting throw found Kelly who stood on the ball before passing back to the Imposing right back.Kennedy then sent it back to Kelly who with his back to goal and outside the box, took it on to his knee before turning and volleying into the top left corner. Such a clinical finish should earn him more tham sausage and chips after the match. Dilton rovers upped thier game and pushed Glassons side deep into thier own half, a array of free kicks and corners before the break were dealt with by the solid defence.
The second half was all St George. Proberly the best u seen them this year. Dilton allowed them to play football. Both Kelly and Green were to pacey for the defence and Martin Read crosses were precise and and constant. with ayres and crucifix all having a go at goal and the defence all making in roads to it was evident a goal was coming. Mark self nlazed one over and Kennedy solo effort from his own half was hit wide of the post and heading to westbury. The gaol did come on 70 minutes when The Gaffa subbed himself for Mark wallis. and within Two minutes of coming on Wallis found the net from four yards after running throught on goal. making it 1-4. ten minutes later Rory kelly headed in his second from close range, Skipper Crucifx then went off and Polishman Daruis Snedzic made a rare appearance and he too could have been on the scoresheet if he was a minute ealier with his run, But the final goal came from Stuart Green who deserved his hat trick ,
final score 1-6.
