.Sureset 0 v 4 FC ST GEORGE
 | MARCHING ON TOGETHER WERE GOING TO WIN WIN WIN
It’s been a while since Player Boss Glasson was able to feel safe enough to crack a smile, but this win surpassed the Dilton Rovers Victory in every way,. The Dilton Game, yes was a much needed moral boost but it was a poor game to watch and play in. and it showed the following week when Fc’S stall was so dismally produced in the defeat to the Bottom side Griffin Fc whose win lifted them of the foot of the table. This Sundays local derby win against Dilton Rovers basement neighbors Sureset Rangers ,saw Fc St George rekindle confidence with flair. It was in the distant winter of 2007 that Fc Recorded the same confidence that had them as promotion contenders and it was so nice to reminisce just how good Fc St George can be as a team. But it seems that Derby games bring the best out of them.
After last week’s failings, Glasson reshuffled his pack. Glasson replaced Mark Self at left back, and John Green and Rory Kelly were replaced by Right winger Simon Clark and Striker Mark Wallis. A late withdrawal saw Rory Kelly start instead of injured Midfielder Chris Ayres, and the bearded wonder made a claim for man of the match with his bullish domination of Midfield, Along with Stuart Green who had dropped back from his normal striking duties the pair split the Suresets spine with ease . Skipper Matt Crucifix resumed his familiar role in central defense with Nigel Chantly and Lee Kennedy continues to Reproduce last season’s form. Mikey Payne was always a threat upfront and Martin read provided the supply from the left flank. Portugese Da Silva was given a vote of confidence and the keeper rarely had anything to do except watch two efforts go wide of each post. and nearly a own goal from his Gaffa whose looping header safely eluded both the keeper and the crossbar.
Fc St George started off brightly, and the more they took the game to their hosts the more confidence they became. The back four soaked up what came their way and the ball was sprayed evenly between both flanks. Payne had his first effort cannon off a defender for a corner and Wallis and chantly both headed over from corners. But It was the Gaffa who came closest after flying down the left flank, Glasson latched onto Stuart Greens simple five yard pass and shot straight at the keeper, a simple square ball into the box wouldd have seen Payne tap in from close range.
It was on the half hr that Glassons side finally broke the deadlock. Rory Kelly jinxed and turned two players before finding Glasson who shifted the ball out to the right flank to Striker Mikey Payne. The prolific striker who was closely marked all game managed to outwit his two markers and curl in a cross which sailed past a bewildered keeper and into the top left corner. The crowds went wild, the noise deafening, the ground shock. Oh what a goal 0-1. This was followed by more pressure, two corners a free kick a sureset box scramble involving about 15 players, when the ball did finally get cleared, it did not get far and Fc St George besieged them again. This time Kelly found Read out on the left flank,Reads first attempt to pass his markers failed, but his persistence paid off when he won the ball back, took two touches and fired home a left foot volley that had the keeper at full stretch.0-2
Sureset rode out the rest of the half deep inside their own half. Their keeper pulled off a superb save and tipped over a long range effort, Striker Mark Wallis who was having his best game off the season so far was knocked out of syth as he broke through on goal and Martin read fired one into the side netting.
In the second Half ,Glassons side continued their domination of the game as Surset pushed numbers forward strectching themselves so much that Payne and co had time on their hands. only poor finishing and some good saves kept the scoreline down as fc went for a third. Defiant Sureset played much better second half and Da Silva saw two shots flash wide past , but the visitors were to strong and a third goal followed from some good build up ,Reads throw in found Skipper Crucifix who picked out Kelly who took the ball a few yards before bringing Striker Payne into play. Payne then took on a defender before slotting it to Wallis who in turn found Stuart Green, his return pass to wallis was superb and the Powerman lurched forward into the box before forcing home a low volley 0-3 it was so clinical I am still replaying in my head. Give Sureset their due, when their down and out they don’t stop till the final whistle and they nearly pulled a goal back when a long shot bobbled out of the reach of keeper Da Silva who breathed a sigh of relief when it spun of wide. A couple of Surseset corners Threathened his clean sheet to, but these were marshaled well by a superb back four who were rarely compromised. Fc St George fourth came from another good build up. Central Giant Nigel Chantly headed clearance from a free kick fell kindly to the busy Kelly who shifted the ball down the left channel Mikey Payne controlled the ball before being pushed out wide, a twist and a turn the striker was in the box, before picking out Stuart Green who volleyed home first time. 0-4. With a comfortable lead Glasson made his first change with Twenty minutes to go. Simon Clark made way for Mark Davies returning from his foot injury. Martin Read walked off to a standing ovation and a babble of god like words, Mark self replaced him and Nigel Chantly came off for John Green. Payne wallis and Green all had half chances saved towards the end of the match while at the other end Glasson back header was the only threat to Da Silvas goal. Final score 0.4
