FC St George was buzzing again as the news filtered out that Player Manager JS Glasson is set to stay. This co-insided with the official confirmation that Leeds Utd unvieled Dave Bassett as Dennis Wises NO 2. Glasson was rumoured to be on a short list alongside Dave Bassett and Ray Wilkins. The Squad were back last night in training as they look to sundays Division Two Cup game against Griffen FC. Glasson has been keeping a low profile but a source close to the boss claims he is a bit dissappointed ,that he has been over-looked but now can put all his energy and focus on the task ahead.
GLASSON RUMOURED TO BE SHORT-LISTED.
Rumour's surfacing from St Georges this week have been unofficialy played down by sources from inside Club. A two fingered Statement by Secreatry John Green is a strong sign the club will do everything they can to keep the gaffa if the rumour is true. Chairman PG Glasson was seen in deep dicussion with a little short man in a size to small suit and a beaming grin in the modest surrounding of Warminster United Services last saturday night, looking so cosy with a extra large potion of sausuage and chips and a bottle of 2.99 plonk
If the leeds united boss Dennis wise has asked for permission to speak to Player-Manager Js Glasson, it would be for the vacant asst managers job left by Guy Poyet who left suddenly to join Tottenham ,and with Mr Wise banned from the touchline for three games it would excell the veteran welshman into dreamland. It is well known that in his early years the lifelong leeds fan sent a application to jim'll fix it when Howard wilkinson was oused ,and his application was answered respectfully. And then five years later Mr Bates refused his services when Bracewell left.Gus has voiced concern about Wises commenst in earlier match Programmes saying in one he mentioned " My players play like St George" and in another " i admire that Celtic ginger welsh man " . Gus Carried on quietly speaking through a stony expression " I knew i would be shown the door sooner or later so when Ramos rang my 0800 number he could not turn me down.
Glasson who was back on his forklift today recovering from his knee injury ,had little to say, well actually he said a lot but was his usually quickly spoken welsh/english deralict." I can't comment at the moment but i am impressed that a big side like LEEDS UTD compare themselves to my side in thier programmes" and he went on " if the rumours are true of course i be flattered with the sudden attention i am getting from Leeds, But i am at the top of my game at the moment, and i cannot leave such a quality bunch of lads, unbeaten at home amd third in the league. i be bloody mad to leave." Promotion is favourable here at Fc St George and i would hate to take all the credit for all that Wise and Poyet have achieved so far"
Glasson declined to comment if he went to LEEDS UTD would he be tempted to take a few players with him.
