GLASSON CONTINUES TO BULK HIS SQUAD

With a squad of 24 signed up Fc's Manger continues to bulk his Squad. Another Youngster Steven Phelps signes up and Glasson is looking at yet another striker who has been recommended...

AUGUST 31ST SUNDAY(LAST FRIENDLY)

THE GRIFFIN V FC ST GEORGE

FROME COLLEGE 2 PM KICK OFF

PLAYERS TO MEET 12.45 AT MORRISSONS

FC ST GEORGE 3 - 3 FOX & HOUNDS

Division Twos newboys Fox & Hounds come back from 3-1 to earn a respectable draw in what looks like yet another Annual Derby Game .This was The Warminster side's first game together and it showed in the first half, but they soon fused with each other and made this a entertaining game for the Watching Masses. With 8 of Fc's first team players absent Player Manager Glasson plunged his youngsters into the Game.Daniel Romian the clubs third choice keeper showed some comfortable handling, while defender Nathan Phelps put in another good performance, but the best of the crop was striker Jamie Davis who scored the homesides second with his back to goal from 12 yards. Mark Wallis continued his scoring streak with the opening Goal on twenty minutes. Jamies came seven minutes later. The hounds came back into the game with a bullet shot from ten yards on the half hr. A good spell of presure by the homeside saw another Jamie special lobbing the keeper to make it 3-1. The second half was all Hounds as they took the game to Glassons side.
and thier pressure paid off when they scored from a set peice just outside the box. Gareth Midcalf and Craig Wilson replaced Jamie Davis and Phelps and Glasson went to a 4-5-1, it seemes to work as the homeside soaked up the pressure but with a minute to go the hounds won a freekick which eventually found itself into the net. final score 3-3

FC ST GEORGE 7 V 5 NORTON NOMADS

Fc St George's fourth friendly was again played on the short obscure Portway Pitch. Not ideal but it was a good run on for both sides. Norton Nomads have been a favorite side of Player-Manager Glasson he sees them as "decent young side waiting for the right season" . The Radstock side travelled light with the bulk of thier attacking players missing, but were not missed as thier replacements did enough damage in the first twenty minutes to make the homeside sit up and listen.Tarrants side took a early two nil lead which woke up Glassons side who were missing at least six key players.Glasson was able to give Youngsters Daniel Romain, Nathan Phelps and Jamie Davies starts and they all made impressive performances and Craig Wilson came on as sub to finish off the quartet. Going behind two nil stirred up the saints, and they responsed well with goals from Mark wallis and Jamie Davies. Nomads then made it 4-2 with another two goals in quick succession, Again Fc St george responded well with Goals from Chris Ayres, Stu Green and Mikey Payne to take a 5-4 lead into the second half.It was a evenly matched second half with both defences working overtime, but it was Nomads who worked a good equaliser on 70 minutes and then took the game searching for the winner. However it was the homesides Mikey Paynes second half brace in the last seven minutes that secured the win.

Malbrough tournament .

Fc St George came a respectable third in thier group stage at the Malborough six a side tournament. The day didnt start well for the warminster side when Polishman Daruis sedzik found a stationary car and a brick wall with his tomtom after just leaving warminster. After making sure all parties were ok the rest of the team took off to Malborough and arrived two minutes before thier first game. After losing thier first game they pulled out two 0-0 draws against Malborough reserves and some saturday team, recieved a win for a team that nver turned up then beat the group leaders 1-0 who were already through to the qtr finals. Kingdown School scuppered all of Fc St georges friendlies by reseeded St Georges Fields and not putting the posts up until first game of the season when FC ST GEORGE V ASDA FC on september 7th.Home friendlies against Surset Rangers tues 12th and Norton Nomads tues 19th are being played at Portway Fields.

AUGUST 7TH CODFORD RES 3 V 2 FC ST GEORGE

A seventeen man squad travelled to Codford to face one of salisbury leagues top teams(which fielded ex player/coach Martin Read and his amercian Prodigy)With only Mark davies, Matt Pinnell and Skipper Matt Crucifix absent it was a good run out for all players. Codford took a twenty minute lead from a penalty conceded needlessly by left back Mark Self and they double it five minutes later from a corner.2-0. Striker Mark Wallis pulled one back before the break with a over head volley and Mikey Payne opened his account with a penalty ten minutes after the break. It looked stalemate with Fc st george soaking up the pressure then hitting the homeside on the counter, but with the visitors stretched a long ball foward eluded Da Silva and Glasson at the back and Keeper Stuart Green out of position left a open goal for the easiest of codfords three goals. Final score 3-2

AUGUST 12TH
FC ST GEORGE 4 V 1 SURESET RANGERS

Fc st Georges second friendly was more of a run out on a small Portway Field. both local teams entertained a small gathering as they tried to play football on a a compact pitch with two watering holes at either Goalmouth, The First half pretty much was St Georges with Mark Wallis Grabbing his second in two Games and Polishman Daruis Sedzik grabbing a breace to make it 3-0 efore half time. Fc St george made five changes to the second half side as Manager Glasson used all his squad. Surset Rangers came out a different side and Caused some concern. Keeper Stuart Green pulled off two good saves before seeing a low volley slip past him. 3-1, Sureset could not add to thier score but tallied up decent attempts. Fc St George finished off the win with a goal a minute from time. Youngsters Jamie davies putting in Craig Wilson for the easist of tap ins. final score 4-1

AUGUST 17TH

FORRESTERS ARMS 5 V 1 FC ST GEORGE

Fc St George Travelled to Beckington without Sean Holton and Damian Holton ,Chris Ayres Mikey Payne or simon clark . But the squad Glasson put out was a decent strong squad which evenly matched thier hosts who had come down from the division they had been promoted too. The first half was end to end with chances each end. And against the run of play in the last twenty of the first half the home side took a 1-0 lead after Left back Mark self left the ball for Keeper Stuart Green who fluffed the easist of clearances and the striker had time to run the ball into the net 1-0. Wallis did have the ball in the net ten minutes later but was deemed offside. The second half got off to the same tempo and Wallis grabbed a deserved equaliser. This however spurned the homeside into dominating the rest of the match. Fc's Da Silva and Lee kennedy went off injured. replaceensts youngsters Craig wilson and Nathan Phelps who are finding it hard to adjust to this level of football continue to get the confidence with there run out . But were not experiance enough to help stem the home sides domination of the game and they found that extra wind and scored another 4 goals. final score 5-1
