League Re-structure

FC ST GEORGE look set to be playing Division One football next season after finishing fourth alonside Third placed Paulton Rovers. The re-structure of the Frome and District sunday league is due to the folding of clubs last season and the election of new ones... a final decision will be made at the leagues A.G.M on june 8th.

SQUAD STATUS

Player-Coach Martin Read has left the club to concentrate on saturday football. rumours are he is on his way to Stockton and codford Reserves
Youngster Danial Harper amd Goalkeeper Alex makwana are the only other players who have since left the club.

NEW SIGNINGS FOR 2008-9
Manager Glasson has already been in the tranfer market to bolstar his squad for the Division One Campaign. Codfords towering attacking midfielder Mike Beaman, Deverills defender Chris Fellows and Left back Damian Holton have all been earmarked.. Glasson sees Beaman as compertition for the left wing, While Chris Fellows will hopefully make the move in defence and link up with four other Deverill players in the side. Damain is the younger brother of Fc's Sean Holton and is can play anywhere dwon the left. Polands cheap version of Christian Ronaldo Yarek Filak is also rumoured to rejoin the club he left a year ago through illness.

Glasson also has his eye some younger prodigys from the under 16s side Warminster United

June 3rd - first Pre-season session

A good fourteen turned up for the opening of the 08/09 session. Among the new players were five from Under 16's side Warminster United. Lee Romain who played for Glasson side two seasons ago has returned and skipper Matt Crucifix brought along skilful 24 year old KAYES AHSAN.

June 8th - Frome AGM

The annual league meeting was held as usual at the leagues sponsors Badgers hill pub. There were only two new teams this season, Weaver Reserves and Warminster cricket club. There were a couple of team name changes and a few movements- Artisans have now been promoted to the Premier division and FC ST GEORGE to Division One.

Prestbury sports Bar will officialy become the clubs main sponsor this season-Tho the club still have another season to go With Sponsors Warminster United Services- Any New Kit change will happen next season.

Player-Manager Jeff Glasson will outline his future plans next week at the Clubs Official AGM. Glasson aim this season is to create a squad of keys players - cover- and bring in youngsters and by 2009-10 a reserve side may be created from these covering players and youngsters.

Matt Crucifix captaincy has been granted for the second season after gaining a respectful standing among the squad. Mikey Payne also retains the Vice-captain Role.

Prolific striker Mikey Payne is the first of three players to sign for the forthcoming season, Left back Mark Self and Polishman Darius Snedzik are the other two.

June 11th
DA SILVA IN FOR ANOTHER SEASON

Portugese Goalkeeper Henrik Da Silva puts pen to paper and signs up for another season. Da Silva who failed to get a regular place at the beginning of last season, stood in for No-1 keeper Alex Makwana who left half way throught the seson. Henrik excelled himself in goal for the rest of the season and will take on the no-1 jersey this season.

AYRES WILL COME TO FORM THIS SEASON

Last Seasons winter signing Midfielder Chris Ayres has snubbed approaches from a number of clubs, and signed up for another season. His experiance will be useful after Fc St George were promoted to Division One.

KELLY WILL BE MISSED

Midfielder Rory Kelly has dropped a bombshell by leaving the club. Rory has been at the club for three seasons and was instrumental in helping Fc to their best ever league placing. Rory’s Move to Salisbury will hopefully only be short term and the door has been left open for his return. Rory Kelly ended the season on a high after winning the Managers Player of the Year Award. This after winning Players player of the year last season.

YOUTH SEARCH

Youngsters Nathan Phelps, Jamie Davies and Craig Wilson have been welcomed to the club. Jamie Davies looks a good find after being spotted playing for local youth side Warminster United. While Phelps and Wilson look decent enough to make the grade.
