A few ideas and thoughts..
Peter Allan emailed the following list:-
Those who come along might be invited to write a short essay on one of the following:
Mr Magson
The trouble I got in to..
My first day in long trousers (or equivalent!)..
Letter from the alein species on the other side of the classroom ie what it was like to be a boy/girl at Headlands..
Hilarious moments..
Romantic liasons..
Teachers - their fears and foibles..
The evening must finish with the School Song:
Home of our Youth,
Our futures mould,
Our guide when young,
Our love when old,
Give us the strength to stand the test,
To shun the wrong.
Uphold the rest,
Floreat semper schola.
(I think there are two other verses!)
More ideas:-
Bring along (or wear) any school uniform.
Any school artifacts - school books, homework diaries, badges, house memorabilia (Silbury, Kennet, Avebury, Barbury etc.)
Any school photos, school outings etc.
On a more sombre note: A few of us thought it would be appropraite to remember school friends who are no longer with us. At least 6 todate have been identified, including Pauline Leighfield, Wynford Rees, Steven Campbell, Dave Godbere, Janice Toombs (and Tom Magson).
IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE IDEAS, LET ME KNOW PLEASE.
I will be investigating the cost of providing a buffet on the evening, I do not plan to sell tickets in advance but rather raise the necessary funds during the evening to cover the costs.
Are there any other thought on the subject?
Roy Smart is hoping to arrange a photographer for the evening, and we are investigating the cost of reproducing the school photo, as a number of you have expressed an interest.
