The content and recommendations were developed by local people who voluntarily formed a team to carry out the task. Over subsequent months the team carried out a survey of the area and its history in order to identify the key features and propose recommendations. Their findings were shown at three exhibitions around the parish during 2002, giving an opportunity for comments and feedback. A final stage of consultation took place in 2004, when a draft Design Statement was displayed at the village fete and around the parish. The Future The Hilperton Village Design Statement was adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance by West Wiltshire District Council, the Planning Authority, on 7 April 2005. Copies were supplied both to Hilperton Parish Council and to West Wiltshire District Council. In addition, copies were distributed to all homes in the parish and the team hopes that everyone will keep these copies for reference and pass them on to the next occupier of the house. The Hilperton Village Design Statement will remain current as a planning document until such time as all its provisions are superceded.
