Mike Fox starts the ball rolling.

Work has started on the restoration of the old steaming bay on the instigation of Mike Fox. An old Ford Transit rear axle has been purchased and modified, this will replace the old turntable. The standing area has been extended and services have been installed to fire up steam locos. The services will be housed in a block built enclosure, built by Richard.
Casting of the rail support pillars has been started; this will make the rail head some eighteen inches higher.
Hard core has been laid in the car access area as this is a boggy area, scalpings will hopefully give a water free hard standing.

Work has started on the sloping bed leading to the steaming bay.

Side view of the ramp leading to the steaming bay, with the shuttering in place for the final stage. Concrete poured on 7th.February 2006.

14.

Shuttering removed and rail placed insitu on a temporary basis, just to see how it looks. The next stage has been started with shuttering put in place, ready to cast a hard standing for cars or trailers.

15.

All of the rails are now in place and fixed down, work has started on fitting buffer stops, and providing services to each road. The picture shows a satisfied crew, with a job well done.

16.

Construction of a wall around the turntable pivot point, which looks a bit like a wishing well. Those in the photo are Michael Higgins, Richard Standish and Mike Fox.

17.

Up and ready for use, with water, air and electricity insitu.

A new loading/unloading ramp has been installed. This is an electric/hydraulic sissor ramp, purchased on e bay. It is operated from a 110v hydraulic pump which is housed inside the steaming bay area in a house that Richard built. The top of the table is a 10ft.by 3ft steel plate, purchased seperately.

21.

Work has started on the inner brick facia of the steaming pit, also seen is the housing for the hydraulic pump for the ramp.

Mike Fox is a slave driver, such hard work we all need a rest.

Clapham Junc.

Further points and track have been added around the restored steaming bay, more concrete to follow!

Ramp brickwork nearing completion.

John Painter has been busy puting the finishing touches to the ramp wall by linning with bricks.

Fox's folly.

As soon as the old aluminium points are lifted from the main track, Mike grabs them to further enlarge Clapham junc. (Willow tree loop).

A bridge too far!

But where is it leading to? Hopefully to the proposed new carriage shed.

Where's it leading to.

Another line has appeared.
