Bridge over the ditch

Over the last couple of weeks the Tuesday gang have been constructing a bridge over the ditch near the station, striong enough to take a digger. Old "H" steel sections were used as a base and the middle filled in with wood sections, bolted in place. This is to facilitate the builders to start work on the new coach shed raft. This work is now scheduled to start on the 26th. August.

Progress report on building work.

This week (August 26th) work has started on the concrete rafts for the club house extension and new coach shed. The builders have dug the footings under the watchful eye of the archaeologist, his only finds, as far as I know, were three milk bottles and a small piece of pottery. A lot of the spoil was distributed around the track to build up the banks, but there is still a lot to shift. The turnout was good and by Thursday hardcore, sand and the membrane were in situ. It is hoped to pour concrete early next week. Help is still required at the site.
OK so we got it wrong! The hardcore was too high, on Friday the gang had to remove the sand and some of the hardcore to allow for the 200mm. concrete above the steel work.(building work seems more precise than you'd imagine, and we all make mistakes). All has been rectified and some of the steel work is in place in the coach shed site. Most of the steel work in the club house area is in place including the deck chairs.
