Traffic Calming

Rodbourne Road, from Faringdon Park to the Transfer Bridges has for a long time presented a problem for residents in Rodbourne.

The main area for concern is for the children and residents of Rodbourne who walk the public foot path and cross at various points on it. Although it is appreciated traffic needs to travel along this road, the amount and speed at which needs to be questioned, as it is not uncommon for cars to be travelling down this road in excess of 35-40 mph.

You do see in other areas of Swindon traffic calming measures which Rodbourne Residents are sure would work on Rodbourne Road in Rodbourne - sleeping policemen, speed tables, curb extensions and 2-lanes narrow to 1-lane.

There are two crossing along this road (including the Outlet Village crossing) and althought this might be adequate measures to calm and slow the traffic can be taken. If you have read the Rodbourne Residents Mission Statement you will know our aim is to make Rodbourne a safer, cleaner and more attractive suburb to live in.

If you feel that Rodbourne Road and Rodbourne in general would benefit from traffic calming measures please contact us via email giving us your name, post code and view. As usual we are looking for a minimum of 50 people to sign a petition to be put forward to the Council.
