Christmas Party 2006
By Karen Hacker
With Christmas just around the corner what better way to celebrate than a bit of festive fun.
On a cold sunday morning, friends and family joined members of the Salisbury Shotokan Karate Club with just that idea in mind at the Basingstoke Lesure Park for some cinema and bowling action.
To start the fun we armed ourselves with popcorn and chocolate while thoroughly enjoying the film "Flushed Away" in the cinema, entertaining both adults and children (Well, more adults I would say!!!). The film put us all in a great mood for more fun and laughter, this time its the long awaited Christmas raffle, with lots of prizes to win, even more than last years raffle.
With the raffle sadly over and everyone enjoying their winings (or not), we tucked into some food before the bowling began. The competitive side emerged from the moment the first ball hit (literary!) the alley with many people putting on an impressive performance achieving a number of strikes, while others.....well did not so well, but nothing stopped the laughter, not even when we were all back outside in the cold again.
A fantastic day all round for everyone, so a big thank you to all those that turned up to enjoy the fun, also well done to the people who went home with goodies from the raffle, and a massive thanks to Senseis Denise and Chris who spent much time and effort arranging the day to suit everyone.
We appreciate all the hard work Sensei has put in not just for today but all year, so lets hope 2007 will be even better. Merry Christmas......Oss

Tidworth 10k Run 07
Sunday 4th Novemeber 07 saw three of us, Karen, Chris and Denise, run the Tidworth 10k for Salisbury Stars Charity. We raised over £400 , thanks to all those who supported us.
Karen finished at the 40 minute mark and Chris and Denise at the 49 minute mark. Not too bad hey!? Check out the pictures!
And we even made it in the Salisbury Journal and front page of the Advertiser - Excellent!

Salisbury SpireWorks 2008
By Karen Hacker
Sensei thought that it would be a great idea to sponsor the annual Salisbury Spireworks, which would be both a good promotion for the club and help support local charities within the community. By the wasy, if anyone in the club heard us mentioned on Spire FM please tell us.
On the 1st of November, 4 members of the SSKC headed out in the awful British November weather getting drenched and chilled to the bone while watching the Spireworks at the Salisbury Cattle Market. Of course there was no cattle, but there was a strange smell of dairy in the air!
With VIP tickets, Senseis Denise and Chris, Karen and Simon had put on their waterproofs and ventured into the unknown. Maybe not quite as VIP as expected as the parking was on dodgy, saturated grass, and the buffet was not realised until we had already bought our own stuff. We did get a better view of the bonfire which was behind a row of hedges! Who’s idea was that?
By the time the display started, we were all drenched but didn’t care as the fireworks were great and we all enjoyed ourselves, so much that Sensei used up all the battery life on two phones by taking an excessive amount of photos.
Getting soaked was just part of the fun. The display did not disappoint and with the lack of spectators the views were better still. The low turnout was a bit disappointing as it was reported in the local journal that many local charities lost out, remember there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!
A big thanks to Sensei for organising such a good evening and to Cathy and Alan for a much needed bone-warming hot chocolate afterwards, and sorry to poor Simon who had to put up with us singing every Spire FM song that came on during the evening.
Hope you like the pictures.
