(Picture from left - Right: C. Ashton, S. Belk, K. Hacker, S. Blackman, R. Jackson, I. Henderson, R. Cox, R. Gerrish, D. Halliwell)

Chris and Denise would like to thank all the club members who competed at the Competition, as well as family/friends who came to support even though due to the clocks changing we all lost a vital hour of sleep (at least we all made it on time!)

I am sure you all agree there was some fantastic Karate being performed on the day throughout all the categories.

Congratulations to all those that competed, especially to those for whom it was their first competition experience. Lets work towards getting a bigger team together for next year and any forthcoming competitions!

Results:
I. Henderson (9th Kyu): 3rd Senior Male Kata 8th-4th Kyu, 3rd Senior Team Kata
K. Hacker (2nd kyu): 2nd Senior Female Team Kumite
R. Jackson (5th kyu): 1st 8th-4th Kyu +16yr Female Kata, 1st 8th-4th Kyu +16yr Female Kumite
R. Cox (9th Kyu): 3rd Senior Male Kata 8th-4th Kyu, 3rd Senior Team Kata

S. Blackman (4th Kyu): 1st 8th-4th kyu 12-15yr Boys Kumite
T. Robinson (4th Kyu): Also competed and although failed to get into a medal placing did very well.

Many thanks to Simon Mason for filming the club members at the competition, I am sure it will be a very useful teaching aid!

Christmas Competition

Sunday the 9th December saw 9 members of the Salisbury Shotokan Karate Club compete in the annual F.B.S.K.U.(I.) Christmas Competition in Bournemouth. Whilst senseis Chris and Denise were occupied refereeing and judging the competition the club competed extremely well.

Not everyone who competed managed to earn a top three finish but each member performed brilliantly even though for some this was their first competition. Members of the club who competed where: Karen Hacker, Simon Blackman, Rachel Jackson, Carl Wilkes, Rob Gerrish, John McDickson Richard Cox, Simon Mason and Shannon Mason.

Well done to all those that competed and those who managed to get through to 2nd and 3rd rounds and to Rachel for managing to defeat Karen in the female kumite final. Special mentions to Carl and Rob who managed to withstand some bloody noses, hope they are not too sore today and they fully recover soon!

RESULTS

K. Hacker – 1st Senior Kata 9th-1st Kyu, 2nd Female Kumite 9th-1st Kyu

S. Blackman – 1st Junior Kata 9th-4th Kyu (11-15years)

R. Jackson – 1st Female Kumite 9th-1st Kyu

R. Cox – Joint 3rd Adult Male Kumite 9th-1st Kyu

All club members are reminded that this competition was a good pre-cursor to the 8th Legend Open competition (23rd February 2008, Bracknell). Those who are interested in competing need to let Chris or Denise know as soon as possible.

Pictures to follow soon!
