Match Reports

Swindon Town Ladies 3 - 0 Forest Green Rovers Ladies
Swindon stared the new season with lots of nerves showing, but soon settled on 6 mins when a Sam Quinn corner was cleared to Chantelle Lovell outside the area who then took a few steps, shot and scored with a low drive into the bottom righthand corner. Town then doubled there lead on 14 mins when good work from the midfield found April Polden on the right wing who then cut inside and shot with her right foot into the roof of the net leaving the keeper with no chance. Forest green had the better end to the half but the town defence held firm. Swindon started the better in the second half and on 51 mins April Polden scored her second after Lisa Coe found the over lapping Laura Potter on the left wing who crossed a good ball for the goal. Forest green created a good chance towards the end but Natasha Chapman in goal was quick off her line to clear the ball to safety. A soild performance with a clean sheet giving a good start to the new season.

Oxford City Ladies 3 - 1 Swindon Town Ladies
A disappointing result considering the performance warranted so much more, Swindon started the game much the stronger quickley into some impressive free flowing football creating chnaces for April Polden only for Oxfords goalkeeper to save, on 15mins against the run of play a lapse of concentration allowed two Oxford attackers in on goal and despite a great half save from Tash Chapman in goal could not keep the ball out. Swindon then struggled with their game for a while and on 26mins found themselves two down after a good through ball. The second half had Swindon again start the stronger creating good chances for Polden, Claire Moreton and Michelle Rich but just could not get the break through. on 65mins a rare breakaway from Oxford resulted in a penalty to Oxford that was scored at the second attempt. Swindon kept pressing and eventually after hitting a post and the bar found the net, as Polden chased a through a cross from Claire Moreton to finish. The score remained like this despite more chances created by Swindon.

Swindon Town Ladies 3 - 2 Luton Town Ladies
The game started with bothside cancelling eachother out from the start. After 10 mins Swindon began to take control and create chances, on 17 mins a clearance from the Luton goalkeeper fell to Michelle Rich who was 30 yds out and fired the ball past the stranded goalkeeper into the net. The rest of the first half was quite bity but Luton finished the stronger team but could not beat Swindons strong defence. The sencond half Luton started the stronger and took advantage of some space in midfield and scored with a looping shot into the roof of the net on 53 mins. This kick started Swindon into raising their game and on 60 mins from a Sam Quinn corner Kim Reeves rose above everyone to head the goal in. Luton were not finished and after some tough tackles got an equiliser after a cross come shot looped its way into the goal. This left the door open for someone to be the hero in the last 5 mins, up stepped Claire Morton after a good ball through from the midfield she then beat the last Luton defender and fired the ball hard and high into the roof of the net to win the game for Swindon.
SQUAD: N Chapman, H Burton, L Potter, K Reeves, S Quinn, M Rich, L Stallard, K Keene, L Coe, A Hazzard, A Polden, C Moreton, C Lovell, S Moore.

Queens Park Rangers 4 - 2 Swindon Town Ladies
A competitive and hard fought game which saw Swindon edged out the by table toppers QPR. Swindon began the game very well and on 2mins a Kim Reeves header froma Sam Quinn corner fell just the wrong side of the post with the goalkeeper beaten. On 5mins QPR on their first attack had a corner that was well finished from 5yards. Swindon continued to control the game despite being behind and on 12mins got an equaliser when Alicia Hazzard played a through ball for April Polden who outpaced the defence and slot past the outcoming goalkeeper. Swindon continued to press and only 9mins later April Polden closed the goalkeeper down from a backpass and forced a mistake to then score her and Swindon's second. QPR began to press back but Swindon defended well. But on 43mins a good passing move throught the QPR midfield found a runner in space who scored to make it 2-2 at half time. QPR started the second half stronger and on 53mins regained the lead with good play through the midfield again. Swindon pressed for an equaliser and created a few chances but QPR were always looking for a quick break, Tasha Chapman made several very good saves in the Swindon goal as Swindon pressed but eventually with 8 mins to go Swindon conceded a fourth.

Swindon Town 1 - 0 AFC Bournemouth
A close, competitive encounter at Aldbourne today where both teams played their part in a very good match. The first half was very even with very few chances at either end, both teams defended well looking very organised and keeping a good shape. Swindon started the second half a little brighter and began to make some half chances but the Bournemouth goalkeeper was very alert to any danger. A Kim Reeves header went very close from a Sam Quinn corner and a Kerry Keene finish was saved well after a cross from April Poldon. On 81mins another Sam Quinn corner was half cleared to Alicia Hazzard who volleyed back past the goalkeeper into the net, for a deserved 1 - 0 win.

Player of the match - Alicia Hazzard

Chesham United 0 - 2 Swindon Town
A fine solid performance by a Swindon team growing in confidemce and belief. Chesham started the game on the attack in in the first 30 mins really pinned Swindon back in their own half but with some great defending kept Chesham dow to long shot at goal. As the game progressed Swindon began to see a little more of the play and began to create some chances of their own. Catherine Reid and April Polden has shots well saved by the Chesham goalkeeper. Just on 45mins another cross from Catherine Reid found Kerry Keene at the back post whose shot came back off the cross bar before April Polden chested into the net. In the second half the game was much more an even game with much played in the middle third. On 65mins another great attcking run from Kerry Keene earnt Swindon a corner, where Michelle Rich curled the ball staright over the goalkeeper straight into the goal. Swindon defence continued to keep shape and limit Chesham to half chances and on every occasion the outstanding Tash Chapman made the saves where required to give Swindon a well deserved 3 points.

Player of the match - Tasha Chapman

Swindon Town 4 - 2 Newquay AFC
Another fine team performance from Swindon with another 3 points against their higher placed league team. Newquay started much the stronger pressing Swindon back into their own half. Town with 2 clean sheets in the last 2 games continued to defend very well but on 11mins Newquay had a direct free kick right on the edge of the Swindon area that was very well finshed in the top corner to give Newquay the lead. This brought Swindon to life and they began to create some chances of their own. On 21 mins Swindon had a free kick of their own that Michelle Rich curled into the top corner to equilise. 5mins later a good build up that saw Claire Moreton play in Catherine Reid who beat her marker and smash past the on coming goalkeeper. 5mins before the break Swindon scored a great third goal. Catherine Reid found April Polden on the right wing who drilled a cross onto Kerry Keene's head who scored from 8 yds. The start of the second half went in much the same way. Swindon grabbed a fourth on 58mins went a neat build down the Swindon left and cross found Michelle Rich on the edge of the box who scored her second of the game. Newquay came back strong and had much the better of the last 30mins but Swindon defence held firm until 89mins when Newquay scored a second but was not enough to take Swindon taking all three points.
SQUAD: N Chapman, L Coe, L Potter, K Reeves, S Quinn, C Lovell, M Rich, K Keene, C Reid, A Polden, C Moreton, M Brown, A Hazzard, L Stallard.
Player of the match - Catherine Reid

Clevedon Town 2 - 2 Swindon Town
Swindon started much the stronger putting constant pressure on the Clevedon goal but could not quite find the final ball. On 20 mins Swindon got a deserved breakthrough after good passing through the midfield and good pressure from the Swindon forwards resulted in Clevedon scoring an own goal. 5 mins later Laura Stallard challenged well winning the ball then releasing Claire Moreton with a through pass who finished well with a low drive. Swindon had a 2 - 0 lead until injury time in the first half when a corner from Clevedon was not dealt with the foward finished with a strong header. The second half was a more equal half with both sides having chances but with 15 mins to go it was Clevedon who got the equaliser with a shot from outside the area. Swindon had chances to win the game but could not beat a stubborn Clevedon defence.
SQUAD: N Chapman, C Lovell, L Coe, K Reeves, S Quinn, M Rich, K Keene, A Hazzard, L Stallard, A Polden, C Moreton, H Burton, C Reid, L Potter.
Player of the match - Alicia Hazzard

Swindon Town 1 - 2 Chesham United
A disappointing result for Swindon despite a good performance. Chesham had the better start but Swindon soon got into their game with some good passing and movement creating chances but unable to get the breakthrough, On 27mins Chesham had an attack down their right flank, a cross was then finshed for 1 - 0. The second half again looked very promising for Swindon with Polden, Moreton and Rich all coming close. With Swindon really pushing forward looking for an equiliser Chesham again caught Swindon on the break with 15mins to go. Swindon did finally score on 91mins when Hazzard played in Catherine Reid who rounded the goalie to score from a narrow angle, but there was not enough time for another.

Swindon Town 2 - 1 Queens Park Rangers
An impressive display to win against table topping QPR for Swindon today. Although were very slow to start and were one down after only five minutes when QPR forward ran in behind to chase a long clearance to lob onrushing goalkeeper Tash Chapman. This soon brought Swindon to life and began to play, chances were made for Polden and Rich who went close and Claire Moreton was denied by the crossbar. On 32mins Swindon made their pressure pay when another Swindon corner from Quinn was headed into their own net for even scores at the break. Swindon again started the second half much the stronger but despite good pocession could not find a way through. Meanwhile Burton, Reeves, Quinn and Coe in defence and midfield protection from Stallard kept the impressive high scoring forwards from QPR under control. On 75mins a Rich corner was only half cleared and fell to Quinn on the edge of the box who drilled the ball low into the bottom right hand corner of the net. QPR pushed for an equaliser but Swindon held firm looking at counter attacks through Hazzard, Reid and Keene.
SQUAD: N Chapman, H Burton, L Coe, K Reeves, S Quinn, M Rich, K Keene, A Hazzard, L Stallard, A Polden, C Moreton, C Lovell, C Reid.
Player of the match - Sam Quinn

Swindon Town 1 - 0 Oxford City
This was always going to be a difficult game for Swindon, it had been a month since their previous game, the game was played on a soft sticky pitch and the fact it was a local derby with a team who kept many people behind the ball too. The first half was very scrappy with little football played from either team with Oxford retstricted to long shots at goal Swindon created their best chances from Sam Quinn corners when twice Kim Reeves went very close. The second half was a little better, Swindon began to dominate with some good pocession but on 50mins had to make a tactical change when Tash Chapman in goal could go no further because of illness, April Poldon took over very well. Swindon continued to press forward with particular neat play down the left with Lisa Coe, Kerrie Keene and Alicia Hazzard all involved. Swindon finally got their breakthrough on 68mins when another Sam Quinn corner went straight in at the front post. Swindon continued to press but were unable to add any further advantage. This win moved them joint top on the league with QPR as we enter the Christmas break.
SQUAD: N Chapman, H Burton, L Coe, K Reeves, S Quinn, M Rich, K Keene, A Hazzard, L Stallard, A Polden, C Moreton, C Lovell, C Reid, K Jones.
Player of the match - Lisa Coe

Luton Town 2 - 2 Swindon Town
A disappointing performance and result today which saw Swindon drop two points. Swindon started the game very slow but Luton were unable to gain any real advantage, on 8mins Swindon were awarded a free kick 30 yards out and after a foul on Chantelle Lovell, Michelle Rich curled the free kick high in to the net for 1 - 0. Swindon had the better of the rest of the first half with Catherine reid hitting the cross bar and Holly Burton also going very close. Swindon started the second half much the stronger and doubled the lead on 54mins when a good move found Catherine Reid on the right who beat her marker then crossed for Michelle Rich to finish. Luton battled on and began to get themselves back into the game, on 72 mins a good move down the Luton right resulted in a cross and goal for Luton. Swindon continued to push for a third with both Michelle Rich and Claire Moreton going close but in the 93rd min Luton broke free and beat the oncoming keeper for a dramatic late equaliser.
SQUAD: N Chapman, H Burton, L Potter, K Reeves, S Quinn, , K Keene, A Hazzard, C Lovell, L Stallard, C Reid, M Rich, A Polden, C Moreton, M Brown.

After another long gap between games Swindon were slow to start and Frome created a few early half chances that were well saved by Tash Chapman in goal. Swindon eventually got in their their passing game creating good chances for Michelle Rich, Claire Moreton and Catherine Reid but were unable to make the breakthrough. On 35mins a good move down the Swindon left involving Lisa Coe, Alicia Hazzard and Kerrie Keene end with Keene being brought down for a penalty kick that Michelle Rich blasted home. Just five minutes later a thrown in again on the Swindon left saw Claire Moreton feed Alicia Hazzard on the edge of the area who curled the ball into the far corner. Just before the break both sides found themselves down to 10 players due an off the ball clash. The second half saw Swindon really dominate but just fail to make advantage into goals, great passing football saw numerous chances created but not until 70mins did Swindon add to there goal tally when Lisa Coe fed Kerrie Keene who set up Michelle Rich to beat the oncoming keeper. Swindon ae now through to the quarter finals.

Swindon Town 2 - 1 Clevedon Town
Swindon were again slow from the start again today and after only 2mins Swindon failed to clear a cross from the Clevedon left that was finished from close range. For the next ten minutes Swindon struggled to get themselves in the game but defended much better. A quarter of the way into the game Swindon began to gain large amounts of pocession but could not find their way through a well organsied Clevedon defence. Swindon went close through Rich, Reid and Keene but it wasn't until the 42minute when Michelle Rich played through Catherine Reid who beat her defender then lobbed the onrushing goalkeeper. The second half was very one sided, Swindon dominanted virtually the whol half but could not convert the chances created. Rich, Moreton, Keene, Hazzard, Polden and Masters all went very close but not until the 88th minute did the winner arrive. Neat play down the left saw Kerrie Keene with a diagonal pass through to Alicia Hazzard who placed the ball pass the goalkeeper for the win.

The second half saw a much improved Swindon performance creating chances for Polden, Moreton and Rich before in the 70min Swindon equalised with a good finish from Claire Moreton. Swindon continued to press and had more chances but were unable to snatch victory.

Plymouth Argyle 4 - 0 Swindon Town
A disappointing performance and result after the long trip to Plymouth for Town today, Swindon's injury hit young team faced a Plymouth team in good form and never really got into the game. It was 42mins before Plymouth scored and was a little against the run of play but the second was all Plymouth with them adding 3 more before the end.
SQUAD: N Chapman, H Burton, L Coe, K Reeves, L Stallard, A Hazzard, C Lovell, K Keene, A Polden, S Masters, M Rich, K Fisher, K Jones.
Player of the match - Michelle Rich

Frome Town 0 - 2 Swindon Town
Swindon picked up their second away win of the season today in Monsoon conditions at Frome, strong winds and heavy rain made things difficult for both teams. Swindon started well with good pocession but could not find the final ball in the last third. Frome's goalkeeper saved well from Rich, Poldon and Masters before finally on 38mins a 30yard shot from Michelle Rich found the top corner. The second half saw Swindon against the strong winds but still dominated poscession with Rich, Hazzard and Poldon all going close. On 62mins a good move down the Swindon right with Michelle Brown and Sammi Masters found Rich in the Frome box who laid the ball off for Lisa Coe to score from outside the box.
