Match reports
Devizes Town 5 Swindon Town 1 From the result you would think that the Swindon girls took a real hiding from Devizes but this was far from the case. Swindon started the better of the two teams and had Devizes on the back foot for most of the first half. About 5 minutes from half time Devizes took the lead against the run of play when the Swindon midfield were caught sleeping and the defence was split. Straight from the restart Swindon equalised through Jaz Self from a corner. Half time score 1 - 1. In the second half Swindon started the same as the first half by pushing Devizes into their half for most of the game. However, Devizes scored their second and from then on went on to win 5-1 mainly as a result of some sloppy marking and mistakes. Overall the Swindon girls put up a performance to be proud of but it just wasn't their day. Team: Debbie Osborn(goalkeeper) Defenders Tash Harper and Sophie Titcombe; Midfield Sophie Harper and Jaz Self, Forward Laura Knapp. Player Of The Match: Tash Harper
Chippenham Town 1 Swindon Town 1 The game commenced with both teams playing it at a slow pace with neither team taking control. However, after 10 minutes Swindon upped the tempo and took the lead with a goal from a corner scored by Jazz Self, Swindon maintained the initiative up to half time but could not capitalise on the chances set up for Tash Zebroski, Nicki Coe and Jaz Self. Half time score Chippenham 0 Swindon 1. The second half saw Chippenham come out fighting and within 5 minutes of the re-start they equalised. From then on both teams had good chances but neither team could find the net. Both teams played some brilliant football with some very skilfull play. A draw was a fair result with neither looking likely to be beaten. Team: Debbie Osborn, Tash Harper, Sophie Titcombe; Nicki Coe, Tash Zebroski and Jaz Self. Subs: Sophie Harper and Laura Knapp. Player Of The Match: Tash Zebroski
Swindon Town 0 Devizes Town 3 Swindon started the game very slowly but managed a few shots at the Devizes goal. The game was very even until Devizes took the lead when they caught Swindon on the break. The Swindon Ladies upped the tempo from then on but just could not find a way past the Devizes goalkeeper. Half time score Swindon 0 Devizes 1. Swindon Ladies started the second half in a more determined fashion and pinned Devizes into their own half for a good 10 minutes or so. Despite some good team work from Swindon it was Devizes who scored their second goal following some sloppy marking from the Swindon Ladies. Swindon continued to take the game to Devizes by pressing them back, trying hard to get back into the game. However, it was Devizes who caught Swindon on the break again with a quick counter attack from which they made the game safe with their third goal. It was a good effort from Swindon Ladies with plenty of good football and some good passing movements. That said the defeat could have been higher but for some good defending and some brilliant saves from the home goalkeeper. Team: Debbie Osborn, Tash Harper, Sophie Titcombe; Nicki Coe, Sophie Harper, Laura Knapp. Subs: Charlotte Knight, Tash Zebroski and Jaz Self. Player Of The Match: Debbie Osborn
Wootton Bassett 3 Swindon Town 2
The game started as any derby does with fast action from the whistle. Both teams had good chances to score before Wootton Bassett took the lead. Swindon equalised with a good solo run from Tash Zebroski. The next 5 minutes were very dull as both teams tried to get the upper hand and it was Wootton Basset who regained the lead 10 minutes before half time. However, Swindon the equalised just before half time following a mistake by the Wootton Bassett midfield. The ball fell to Jazz Self who slotted the ball home from close range, Half time score Wootton Bassett 2 Swindon 2. The second half saw Swindon take the game to Wootton Basset. With about 10 minutes to go Swindon thought they had taken th lead when a thunder bolt from Tasha Harper that hit the back of the net and bounced back out into the arms of the home goalkeeper. However, the referee disallowed the goal as he did not believe that the ball had crossed the line as the goalkeeper had saved it. Even the home players said it was a good goal. Swindon then pressed on to try for the winning goal but it never happened, It was Wootton Bassett bassett that finally got the winning goasl, against the run of play. The Swindon Ladies got the bit between the teeth and pinned Wootton Bassett back in their own half for the remainder of the game, but could not get that elusive goal. All in all the girls gave 110 per cent effort. No player of the match could be awarded as they all played well. It was a shame that a poor refereeing decision cost Swindon at least a point. Team: Debbie Osborn, Laura Knapp, Jaz Self, Charlotte Knight, Sophie Titcombe, Sophie Harper Subs: Tasha Harper, Tash Zebroski and Tara Martin. Player Of The Match: The Whole team
