Some of the squad:

Jamie Baden: hyper keen batsman, seamer, leg spinner and keeper as well if the manager would let him. Back in credit with the side after bowling well against Salisbury; good imitation of a snail when batting against Kennet!

Nathan Iles: understands the game, one of the best bats in the side and a steady bowler. Led the side to their win over Salisbury.

Jamie Furkins: ever cheerful player, another who can bat, bowl and keep wicket! Very capable alternative keeper when David Cluett not available.

Paul Laggett: opened the batting in the first game and charged to a ten wicket win. Also inherited his Dad's slip fielding skills. The only one of the side who has so far had County recognition, but others must surely follow.

George Rigali: up there with the best all-rounders in the side but needs to concentrate a bit more during the training sessions - already knows most of what we are trying to teach him but must realise that he doesn't (quite) know it all yet!

Arran Stevens: another enthusiastic and talented all rounder whose batting has impressed this year with classic shots, particularly on the off side. Killed off Salisbury's hopes of snatching a win with a cover-drive for four with his first ball back in after having to retire earlier.

Joe White: four overs, four maidens in the first game against North Wilts which says it all really. Plays his County cricket for Oxfordshire but lives in the Swindon District. man of the match in the North Wilts game.

Under-13

The side has been gradually strengthened during the summer, but unfortunately the bulk of the fixtures were played before they properly gelled.

Some of the squad:

Peter Sharp; swing bowler who usually opens and when he gets it right can trouble the best. Needs to concentrate on getting his run-up right and pitching the ball up. Can bat well when he stops slogging.

Alex Veitch; more of a seam bowler rather than a swing bowler, and has been unlucky not to get more wickets. Very enthusiastic cricketer who thinks he should bowl all day. Thank goodness for the ECB over restrictions!

Simon Dickinson; useful all rounder who hits the ball hard and bowls a nagging medium pace. Needs to concentrate on playing straight (when batting) and not trying to be too quick (when bowling).

Jack Pocock; one of the smallest in the team but not one of the quietest! Tries to keep the team on their toes and a good runner between the wickets which compensates for the fact that at the moment he is not a particularly hard hitter.

Sandip Rooprai; quality all rounder who emerged this year from the Headlands 'academy'. Dazzling strokeplay at Wootton Bassett, particularly with his back foot drives for four, and also bowls at a lively pace.

Craig Taylor; very astute cricketer, and a year younger than most of the side. Did not manage a big score this year, but is bound to feature next season. Selected for Wiltshire Under-12's.

Ben Batchelor; stylish batsman who developed very quickly into a classic left arm finger spinner and was picked by Wiltshire for the county Under-13 team.
