 | It helps if you belong to club. In 2005 the above above shield, certificate and associated medal were won by being a (the slowest by far) member of a club team. The shield was won by the team having the fastest aggregate time in races over 100, 50, 25 & 10 miles, the two other faster Chippenham & District Wheelers team members were Nigel Copeman and Gordon Scott. The certificate and medal were awarded to the District 50 mile Team Champions, the other two faster Chippenham & District Wheelers team members were Nigel Copeman, again, and Kevin Turner.

If you want an event to be provided with prizes for those competing with diabetes please get in touch. The email link has now been restored, hopefully it will not need to be closed again due to misuse.
17/1/2006 TeamHummingbird CC has reaffiliated to the West District of Cycling Time Trials. The events program for 2006 is under review and will not be the same as 2005. For 2005 there will be Championships based on British Cycling road race events. The first will be for an overal Road Race Champion, the winner being the rider scoring the most points in the highest category; a 1st Cat rider scoring 5pts will prevail over a 3rd Cat rider scoring 10 pts. The second will be for a Road Race Points Champion, the winner being the rider scoring the most points irrespective of category, the points total being cumulative through out the season adding together points scored in more than one category if a rider is promoted: a 3rd cat rider scoring 10 pts will prevail over a 2nd Cat rider scoring 5 pts.

Domain Name. The following email has been received and TeamHummingbird CC wishes the new 'Team Hummingbird' success with their entry in the Magellan 3 Peaks Yacht Race; email: Hi, I am representing a team of 5 people who have entered the Magellan 3 peaks Yacht Race (threepeaksyachtrace.co.uk) We have chosen to support Diabetes UK and came up with the name Team Hummingbird. However on searching found that you already use that name. The event is on the 18th of June 2005 and the Team is most likely to be disbanded after that, so I am contacting you as a courtesy to see if you have any strong objections too us using the same name. We have purchased the domain name of teamhummingbird.org and are in the processs of building a site. I look forward to hearing from you. Mark Wilsher
22/9/04 Para-Olympics: (Extract of Report refrring to Barney Storey) Ian Sharpe and his pilot Paul Hunter added to Great Britain's Paralympic cycling medal tally with a bronze in the men's B1-3 1km tandem time trial. The pair had led after setting an impressive one minute 5.530 seconds, but were later overhauled by pairings from Australia and France. It was their second bronze of the Games after they finished third in the 4km individual pursuit on Sunday. Dan Gordon and Barney Storey finished fifth in 1:06.645. We rode out of our skins and we are just over the moon said Paul Hunter. Despite finishing third, Sharpe and Hunter were overjoyed with their medal in what is their weaker event. "We came here as 4km riders and we certainly never expected to win a medal," said Hunter afterwards. "We rode out of our skins and took a second and a half off our personal best for the event and we are just over the moon." But the pair had plenty of sympathy for their GB teammates, who came into the Games as the defending European champions and were tipped for a medal. "It was painful to watch Dan and Barney's run because they are the top GB pairing in the event and we wanted them to do well," said Hunter "It is heart-breaking when you wait four years for your event and then something goes wrong." 21/9/04 Para-Olympics result:Dan Gordon and pilot Barney Storey's hopes in the men's sprint were dashed when they were beaten 2-0 by Japan's Shigeo Yoshihara and Takuya Oki in their quarter-final series. 14/6/04 As a consequence of riding at the new Newport Velodrome TeamHummingbird is publising and agreed to provide prizes for a Team Midlands Racing 10 mile TT on the 26th September which is a charity event to benefit Diabetes UK

Lab Tests Online, The Association of Clinical Biochemists
Right: The Hon. Sec. representing TeamHummingbird CC at the American Diabetes Association 'Tour De Cure' fundraiser at Columbia, Maryland, USA on 14th May 2005. Chippenham & District Wheelers is the Hon. Sec's. 'first claim' club under CTT rules.
Details and descriptions of lab tests can be found on this site provided by professional bodies which also lists its funding arrangements.
The list is too long to list all the test details available but my doctor tells me that those with diabetes might like to look at tests for:
Cholesterol (Chol)
Creatinine
Electrolytes
Glucose
HbA1c (glycated haemoglobin, GHb)
Lipid Profile (cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL)
and if on medication:
Liver function tests (LFT)
