GOOD NEWS
You will have heard that a male in his early 20’s in Westbury has been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for an admitted offence of arson with intent to endanger life at a residential premises in Westbury Town Centre.
You will also probably be aware that this was the result of a two year operation and court case against this male where crucial evidence was captured on the town’s C.C.T.V. system, once again proving how invaluable this facility is in making our towns a safer place to live.
ALSO On a lighter note, In May 2005, two abusive e-mails were received on the Wiltshire Constabulary website comprising of obscenities and derogatory comments as to how the Police carried out their business. The matter was passed to local Officers who duly called at an address in Westbury and spoke to a male who they suspected had sent the original e-mails to the website. During interview, two males readily admitted the offence and in mitigation stated that they were drunk and under the influence of illegal substances at the time of sending the e-mails. One question they raised was how on earth did the Police track them down? We told them that it was good investigative policing. We didn't tell them that they had included their names and home address on the e-mail!
GARAGE/SHED BREAKS
There has been a spate of burglaries to garages and sheds in the Boreham Road and St. Andrew’s Road areas of Warminster. These offences occur during the night and invariably a screwdriver is used to effect entry. Please ensure your premises are secure and that you do everything you can to deter the would-be burglar from entering your property. In the past years we have achieved arrests and convictions of local males for these types of offences, so please be assured that we are doing all we can to detect these offences, but your part is crucial is preventing them in the first place.

WE NEED YOUR HELP
A high proportion of minor criminal damage to fence panels, plants, etc. is occurring in the areas of Broadway, Masefield Road, Thornhill Road, Broxburn Road and St. Andrew’s Road.
Whilst the crime is petty in value, it is significant to the persons whose property is damaged and we are anxious to deal with the youths responsible as quickly as possible.
We are convinced that local youths are causing the damage and your help is requested in identifying those responsible so that we may make arrests and deal with them through the judicial process. It would appear that this is the only action that these individuals understand or relate to, and make no mistake, if we have the evidence, we will deal with these youths robustly and appropriately. If you have any information, contact can be made with your local P.C.S.O., Caroline Wright, or again anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
