DISTRACTION BURGLARY
Yet again, I am disappointed to have to inform you that a distraction type burglary took place in Corsley. Two persons were responsible for the theft of £140 in cash from an elderly couple. The M.O. was that one male kept the occupiers talking outside of their house for about 20 minutes, then suddenly left. It was subsequently discovered that entry had been made through the open back door by another person who stole the cash. The male who spoke to the couple is described as being white with fair skin, of muscular build, has light brown coloured hair and was wearing dark trousers and t-shirt. It was apparent that the male had a speech impediment, possibly a cleft palate. An artist’s impression has been obtained and will be circulated in the local press, but if you have any information that may lead to the arrest of this male and his accomplice, please do not hesitate to contact the Police at Warminster or CrimeStoppers on 0800-555-111.
INDECENT EXPOSURE
Since January 2005, a number of indecent exposures have taken place in Longbridge Deverill, Crockerton, Kingston Deverill and Corsley. This has been circulated in the press and a male has been arrested. We are still anxious, however, that if you have any information regarding a possible suspect or if you are aware of any similar offences, please contact Pc McAuley at Warminster Police Station, who will assist you with your query.
BURGLARIES ON INDUSTRIAL ESTATES
Between 6th and 14th July 2005, five units on the Deverill Trading Estate were broken into. One of the units had a quantity of electrical equipment stolen, value £3000.00. The other units had various tools stolen. If you have any information regarding these offences, please contact Pc McAuley at Warminster Police Station, or CrimeStoppers on 0800-555-111.
ALSO
Officers are reporting to me that during their patrols in and around both Warminster and Westbury, garage doors are being left open. Please can I remind you to secure your property, as the opportunist thief is always out there and will easily remove your new lawnmower, strimmer, hedge trimmer or other electrical items if you make it easy for them to do so. Keep your property safe, secure and out of sight.
NUISANCE MOPEDS
Recent community reports have indicated an increase in the anti-social use of mini-moto motorcycles (miniature super bikes) and mopeds. This is being investigated by local community beat officers to ascertain those responsible. Any information that can be provided on locations, times and individuals responsible for these activities would be greatly appreciated. The law is that these are mechanically propelled vehicles and as such are governed by the same strict regulations as normal motor vehicles.
THEFTS IN WESTBURY
Overnight on the 2nd and 3rd August, several thefts of plant pots were reported from the front gardens of houses in Timor Road and Fell Road, Westbury. Also, theft of milk from the doorsteps of houses in Gloucester Walk, Westbury has been reported.
