Thefts from Vehicles
There has been a marked increase in theft from and attempt thefts from vehicles in the Warminster area in recent weeks. Whilst we are doing everything possible to stop the series and detect any crimes reported, the Police are reliant on information from members of the public wherever possible. The recent series emerging identifies the fact that on many occasions power tools have been stolen and for that reason vans have been targeted. It is worthy of note that parking vans with the rear double doors backed tightly up to another vehicle or wall is a good preventative measure and may prevent a vehicle being broken into.
ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
A youth from Warminster has recently been encouraged to enter into an Antisocial Behaviour Contract following a list of reports relating to his actions which were deemed to be anti- social. Occurrences like this show that with the co-operation of the public, including the members of the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and other bodies including the Probation Service, Social Services and the Wiltshire Youth Offending Team, youths misbehaving and causing problems for residents can be dealt with in a positive manner.
GOOD NEWSFollowing the recent series of burglaries where garages or sheds were entered and items stolen, a man has been arrested and charged with 7 offences. He is currently remanded in custody and a fairly long term of imprisonment is anticipated.Four youths from the Westbury area have been arrested in connection with three house burglaries during the last month and it is anticipated that at least two of them will end up appearing before the magistrates. An update should appear in the next bulletin.
MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE
The Lions Club of Warminster, with the support of the local Police, Ambulance, Fire and Health Services, are promoting the use of a scheme to assist the emergency services when dealing with elderly or vulnerable persons. This is a simple but extremely effective idea. Elderly or vulnerable people are urged to make use of the free plastic containers, in which they place their next of kin contact details, repeat prescriptions and any other information they deem beneficial to carers who may have need to come to their assistance. If there should be a requirement for the emergency services to attend their address, they will be able to obtain relevant information quickly.
For further information in relation to this valuable scheme, please make contact with Roy Williams on 01985-219110.
