GOOD NEWS
On the 2nd November 2004 a male local to Warminster was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for shoplifting and affray. Both of these offences occurred at business premises in Warminster Town Centre.
This male is to be visited in prison; the intention being to clear up numerous burglaries to sheds and garages in and around Warminster Town Centre.
It is anticipated, however, that this individual will be released before Christmas this year and I have little doubt that this recidivist will resume his criminal activity forthwith.
Can I therefore take this opportunity to remind you to secure your sheds and garages, to mark your property, particularly tools, gardening equipment and pedal cycles.
Don’t make yourself an easy target for this or any other individual who are opportunists and will steal anything they feel they are able to pass on to make a small profit.

MORE GOOD NEWS
You may probably have seen the recent crime figures that have been released, which reflect favourably for both Warminster and Westbury in relation to the reduction of dwellinghouse burglaries, violent crime, criminal damage and drugs.
The detection rates set by the Home Office are being met in both Warminster and Westbury and this is without doubt, in no small way, due to your efforts and enthusiasm in making our towns the safest area to live in, in the second safest county in the country.
Keep up the good work and our aim must be now to improve detections in support of our continual reductions.

CAR PARKING, WESTBURY TOWN CENTRE
Police in Westbury have been approached by local Town Councillors with complaints from residents over parking in and around the town centre. In order that the town centre can be used as it is designed, so that visitors to the town are able to park with ease and emergency services are able to get through the High Streeet, Officers will be embarking on a period of strict enforcement on parking within the Town Centre area.
We would ask for help from local residents and visitors to the town to observe the regulations in force, and to ensure that when parking you do so legally, so that you do not attract the attention of Police and the subsequent £40.00 parking fine.
There are car parks in and around Westbury Town Centre – we would urge you to use them.

SUSPICIOUS MALE
A small number of reports have been made to the Police at Warminster regarding a prowler in and around the Melrose Close area of the town, in the early hours of the morning. This male is described as approximately 6’ tall and wearing a large dark duffle coat.
Although we have no reported crimes as yet, we ask that the public remain vigilant during the hours of darkness and report all incidents immediately to the Police.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLES AND RURAL THEFTS
Police have noticed a small pattern of reported thefts in the villages around Warminster in which a beige Nissan Primera H108 GFD was either seen leaving the scene or in the immediate area at the time. These thefts have been in relation to tools from works vehicles or farm buildings and it is asked that the public be extra vigilant in relation to this vehicle, report all sightings to the Police and take extra care regarding the security of their belongings.
Remember, you can contact your local Police Station or if you wish, you can contact CrimeStoppers on 0800-555-111 and be reassured that your details will remain anonymous.
