SUNDAY 4th SEPTEMBER Whitehart Combe 0 Cooper Avon 1 ATT ; 47 MAN OF THE MATCH - Ian Sandell In a game played in good spirit either team could find their shooting boots with strong defending and some good saves by the keepers one goal was always going to win it. That goal came in the 90th minute. The games left combe manager needing to think about his attacking options. SUNDAY 18th SEPTEMBER Whitehart Combe 0 Trowbridge Harriers 2 ATT - 22 MAN OF THE MATCH- Dan Quinsey With a new team and an unbeaten premership side the visiters a thrashing was on the cards but with a great team performance combe frustrated trowbridge until well into the second half. even though we lost i think alot can be taken from this game. SUNDAY 25th SEPTEMBER Whitehart Combe 2 Afc Melksham 2 ATT 19 MAN OF THE MATCH - Jamie Farquharson With both teams looking for a first win a draw was always on the cards, but with Combe dominating the first half they must have wondered why they were only 1-0 up at halfime with a well worked goal from jamie Farquharson . The second half was a differant story with melksham starting the better side and deservedly equalizing, then amix up at the back allowed melksham to take the lead.. Combe then pushed up and some late pressure saw jamie farquharson grab his second goal of the game and combes equalizer. SUNDAY 2nd OCTOBER Curriers Arms 2 Whitehart Combe 0 ATT 11 MAN OF THE MATCH - Ian Sandell With combe starting well they should have been 3-0 up within the first ten minutes but poor finishing and bad luck kept the score level, but midway through the first half curriers struck with a 25 yard drive. second half combe didn't really start until after curriers scored there second but it was to late then. SUNDAY 9th OCTOBER Whitehart combe 0 Crown 0 ATT 20 MAN OF THE MATCH- Paul Hussey Combe dominated the first half with some good football and with a bit more luck could and should have took the lead, the second half the crown just edged it but a draw a fair result. SUNDAY 16th OCTOBER Old Road Tavern 2 Whitehart Combe 3 ATT 18 MAN OF THE MATCH - Lee Fernandez IN a very exciting game combe dominated the first half again with no goals to show for it. lee fernandez hitting the crossbar and tavern keeper making some fine saves. combe carried on in the second half and finally scored when lee fernandez drove home and it was not long before lee got his second again driving it past a helpless keeper. but just when combe thought the game was over jamie farquharson was sent off for combe for foul language. tavern scored soon after and it looked liked a tense finish but lee stepped up and finished his hattrick with a free kick, tavern scored again at the final whistle when somehow a cross went straight in. SUNDAY 23rd OCTOBER Southgate Inn 7 Whitehart Combe 0 ATT 12 MAN OF THE MATCH- Rob Preston Whitehart combe actually started really well and should have been 3 goals up in the first 25 minutes jamie farquharson hitting the post lee fernandez shooting over and jamie dawson shooting into the side netting. But two bad injuries saw combe have to change formation and personal and once southgate scored two just before halftime the writing was on the wall allthough combe still missed 3 sitters late on in the second half. SUNDAY 30th OCTOBER The Pough 4 Whitehart Combe 0 ATT 9 MAN OF THE MATCH- Russ Williams Combe were outplayed by a young plough side and deserved the win allthough without 2 own goals and a penalty it could of looked a closer game than it was. I think the combe defence deserved a bit more luck, i also think some of the midfield and strikers didn't turn up. SUNDAY 13th NOVEMBER Whitehart Combe 5 Wanderers 1 ATT 18 MAN OF THE MATCH- Will Lawton In a game combe dominated the only sad thing was combe did not score more goals only the keeper with some fine saves and some bad misses stopped it being more than 5. Combe took the lead early and never looked back lee fernandez prodding home from close range it wasn't long before combe scored there second paul hussey heading in. After some good saves from the wanderers keeper they scored against the run of play with a far post shot. With half time approaching combe scored a third will lawton drilling an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Second half was no differant combe in control and scored a fourth when some how a long shot from paul hussey went in, then combe should of had a blatant penalty but from the resulting corner paul hussey powered a header home to complete his hattrick and combe's scoring. SUNDAY 27th NOVEMBER Whitehart Combe 0 Rising Sun 0 ATT 21 MAN OF THE MATCH- Louis Gough Combe will think a point lost here, after starting the game very slowly and playing poor 0-0 was a fair half time score. but finally combe woke up after half time and had 5 or 6 good chances new signing Ben Thomas coming on as sub causing havoc for the sun defence. But just when it looked like combe were going to score the referee blew for full time with 99% of players and spectators thinking there should be at least 10 minutes remaining. (very strange) SUNDAY 11th DECEMBER Whitehart Combe 2 Springfield 1 ATT 19 MAN OF THE MATCH- Trev Rawlings Whitehart combe did not start well and springfield had the better of the first half and took the lead early in the first half. seven players out combe struggled to find there feet but had a couple of good chances at the end of the first half james hearsey finally prodding home after a corner. A bollocking at half time worked wonders with combe outplaying springfield in the second half missing six very good chances, but finally ben thomas on his debut scored the winner with a cool finish. combe playing the second half with two strikers with the combined age of 86. SUNDAY 8th JANUARY Whitehart Combe 3 K.S.M 1 ATT. 1079 MAN OF THE MATCH - James Hearsey In a fierce local derby combe dominated the first half and should have been 5 or 6 up at half time but for a good half for the ksm keeper. Combe finally took the lead when lee fernandez prodded home, But with chance after chance going beggin combe thought it was going to be one of those days but finally james hearsey turned in the box and put combe 2-0 up half time. K.s.m started better in the second half and had a 20 minute spell which put combe under pressure and pulled one back half way through second half with a good finish, But with 15 to go ben thomas scored combe's third and after that there was only one team that where going to score again, and the game ended 3-1. With the tackles flying in and a local derby the game was played in good spirit. SUNDAY 15th JANUARY Whitehart Combe 2 Plough 7 ATT. 18 MAN OF THE MATCH - Lee Fernandez combe gave a cocky plough team a scare on sunday for 75 minutes but injuries to two centre halfs denied combe a share of the spoils. Combe took the lead through lee fernandez cool run and finish but plough went in 3-1 at halftime through two tap ins and a harsh penalty. combe started brightly in the second half and pulled one back when ben thomas finished well. combe could of then been level when a good move gave sub jamie farquharson a chance but the keeper saved well. Then came the injuries and the plough scored 4 late goals to make the scoreline a bit flattering for the plough. SUNDAY 22nd JANUARY Whitehart Combe 1 Chippenham Westend 1 ATT 25 MAN OF THE MATCH- Louis Gough At the end of the game a draw was a fair result with neither team doing enough to win it. westend took the lead at the start of the second half when they scored with a deflected freekick. Combe then pushed forward and started to play a bit and james hearsey cut in a drilled a shot across the keeper from 18 yards. combe's football got better but the final ball didn't happen today. SUNDAY 29th JANUARY The Crown 2 Whitehart Combe 2 ATT. 15 MAN OF THE MATCH - Bunny Fernandez Combe controlled the first half without creating too many chances just a few half chances with the crown keeper dealing with easily. The second half was a differant story within 30 seconds of the restart combe went one up when bunny fed jamie farquharson who finished well into the bottom corner.Then the game went from end to end and the crown drew level with a fine run and finish to make 1-1 . Combe soon took the lead again when a great pass from james hearsey put spring chicken bunny through and he calmly lobbed the keeper to make it 2-1.The crown equalised again when from a corner russ williams was hurt but play carried on , russ was then booked for having a head injury ????? . Combe then took siege to the crown goal hitting the cross bar twice through a rob d freekick from 25 yards and a bunny volley. and then with time ticking away had a goal disallowed for off side. SUNDAY 5th FEBUARY Springfield 2 Whitehart Combe 3 ATT 19 MAN OF THE MATCH- James Hearsey Combe started well and took the lead early when from a corner james hearsey headed in, And it wasn't long before it was two when from another corner james hearsey got his second. Then with the game onesided springfield scored with a long range effort. The combe heads then seem to drop and springfield scored again with another long range shot. The second half started even but before long combe took control and started to create chances rob preston hitting the bar and the keeper making 3 great saves, and yet again another goal disallowed for offside. But with minutes remaining james farquharson broke free beat the keeper to the ball and put the the ball into the empty net to break the sequence of draws. SUNDAY 12th FEBUARY Whitehart Combe 2 Southgate 9 ATT 15 MAN OF THE MATCH - Gary Butler Well a game of chances but only one team taking them,with the shot count nearly the same the souhtgate finished there chances like promotion favourites they are, But combes finishing summed up why they have only got 28 goals this season. Ben thomas got combes first just before half time, and Rob preston got combes second with his knee from six yards from a corner ( or was it a 30yrd screamer). SUNDAY 26th FEBUARY Wanderers 2 Whitehart Combe 3 ATT- 15 MAN OF THE MATCH- Dan Quinsey Combe went in at halftime 2-0 up after two penalties, james Hearsey scoring the first via the crossbar and jamie farquharson got the second. But the combe team did not come out for the second half and wanderers scored two goals to tie the game, then combe seamed to wake up and had 3 good chances to score until finally with 2 minutes remaining jamie farquharson got the winner and his second from a goal mouth scramble.And then in injury time from six yards out somehow two wanderers players collided with each other with an empty goal in front of them.... SUNDAY 12th MARCH Whitehart Combe 3 Afc Pilot 2 ATT- 10 MAN OF THE MATCH- Louis Gough Combe started really well and were two goals up through Jamie Farquharson and Ben Thomas both close range efforts after good build up play.Combe where in total control and went 3-0 up before halftime when a great run from defence from louis gough set lee fernandez to tap home.The second half was a differant game with the wind getting stonger in the faces of combe pilot controlled the first 25 minutes and scored two goals one straight from the kickoff. But combe weathered the storm and got back into the game and had several chances to add to the scoreline. SUNDAY 19th MARCH Rising Sun 1 Whitehart Combe 4 ATT- 19 MAN OF THE MATCH - Ian Sandell After a poor 1st half combe found themselves 2-0 up at half time thanks to two own goals although ben and jamie are sure to try and claim them.After a talkin to at half time combe were a far better side in the second half and deservedly scored two more goals, gary butler scoring his first for the season and jamie farquharson adding another goal to his tallly. The rising scored a consulation goal on 90 minutes. SUNDAY 26th MARCH K.s.m 0 Whitehart Combe 2 ATT. 1008 MAN OF THE MATCH- Jamie Farquharson With the wind and slope in ksm favour they edged the first half and had a few half chances, yey combe should have scored just before half time when a combe corner caused a goal mouth scramble.The second half was a far differant story with combe dominating possesion and finally scored when jamie farquharson scored a good solo effort.Ksm heads dropped and with the combe defence soild the combe midfield took control and jamie scored his second to give combe the double over their fierce local rivals. SUNDAY 2nd APRIL Cooper Avon 2 Whitehart Combe 1 ATT- 15 MAN OF THE MATCH - Paul Hussey 3rd against 4th saw an exciting game played at the conigre and league new boys gave cooper avon a big scare. Jamie farquharson putting combe 1-0 up after just a couple of minutes after a great run from paul hussey and a great finish from jamie. Combe had more chances to scrore but lady luck wasn't on combes side, as just before the break cooper avon drew level.combe should of took the lead just after the break but some how a goal mouth scramble stayed out. Cooper avon took the lead midway through the second half with a powerful shot to make it 2-1 and thats how it stayed. Combe must take heart from this display because from the first minute to the 90th minute they gave a great account of themselves and deserved a draw at least. THURSDAY 13th APRIL The Pilot 2 Whitehart Combe 3 ATT- 18 MAN OF THE MATCH- Dan Quinsey Combes first ever evening game in the sunday league saw 4th take on 5th, And in a thrilling game combe took the spoils to pilot's disbelief.Combe started well and had 5 quick corners with the 5th corner seeing combe take the lead with a cracking edge of the box volley from louis gough his first of the season.Combe then fell asleep and pilot equalised to make 1-1 at halftime.Second half pilot dominated the 1st 20 minutes and took the lead, could of been more but for dan quinsey.Three subs changed the game for combe and within five minutes they were level thanks to rob davies 1st of the season.Then with a few minutes to go sam coltman used his strength and played jamie farquharson through and he finished with a great lob over the keeper to make 3-2 to the mighty combe. SUNDAY 16th APRIL Melksham 3 Whitehart Combe 2 ATT- 19 MAN OF THE MATCH- PAUL (MAD DOG) Maddock Perhaps thursday nights game took its toll on the combe side because they did not come out of the traps until the 35 minute , By then they were 2-0 down. Jamie Farquharson scoring for the combe after a great bit of football.The second half saw melksham go 3-1 up after a goal mouth scramble.Combe dominated after that and pulled one back when lee fernandez scored at the far post,but melsham held on. MANAGERS THOUGHTS Its been a great first season for the boys, with a few young uns playing adult football for the first time and players that have not played for at least 5 years. They played as a team with a great team spirit Look out for us next season!!!!!!!!
