Botanising on Italian Volcanoes. An illustrated talk by John Presland A brief look at the floras of Pompeii and Stromboli and a closer look at Mt. Etna.
Melksham Church Hall: SN12 6JX (ST905637) From roundabout near town hall go 50m along High Street in Bath direction. Pass King’s Arms and Grecian façade of United Reform Church on right. Immediately turn right by Nixon & Shaws Opticians into a narrow drive – Watson’s Court – which leads to a small car park and entrance to church hall on right behind church. If full use Pay & Display car park a little further along High Street on left.

A joint meeting with local groups and a chance to collect and identify the material.
Bentley Wood – Meet at Livery Gate (SU239297) to the east of the minor road running between East Grimstead and Winterslow. We shall drive further into the wood to the selected sites

Plantlife’s ‘Important Plant Area’ project. An illustrated talk by Beth Newman
Beth will describe how sites for the Important Plant Areas scheme are identified and mapped
Urchfont Village Hall, Church Lane. SN10 4QT (SU040573) From the B3098 turn north in Urchfont into High St, signed to Potterne Wick. Pass the pond on your right and turn right into Peppercombe Lane at a signboard “Peppercombe and Village Hall”. Then turn right into the car park - space for 20 cars

Flowers of Spitzbergen. An illustrated talk by Barbara Last
Langford Lakes Reserve SP3 4NH – The reserve entrance is off Duck Street (SU037370) – immediately south of the bridge over the river. Duck Street runs south from Steeple Langford to Hanging Langford.

There will be a fire and hot drinks in the barn and an opportunity to examine and label specimens. If you have a binocular microscope which uses natural light, please bring it if you can.

AGM followed by ‘Yorkshire Revisited’ – memories of our visit in 2008.
St Andrew’s Church Hall, Devizes. SN10 1NJ (SU005612) The Hall is next to the Church, which is in Long Street, the opposite side to the Museum and nearer to the town centre. Park in the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust car park, which is behind the Church
